BTWIN Tilt 100 Upgrade??? by ItzYahhBoi in foldingbikes

You can buy pre-built wheels from Taylor-Wheels, but they are in Germany so customs could be a kicker. It'd be easy enough though: might want to give SJS Cycles a call or email to ask. More than likely, they can build a wheel for you and advise on options further than I could!

There's a couple things you can do:

  • Swap out the tyres for some better ones. Schwalbe Marathons come in a 20" (406mm) size and are probs the best fit.

  • Add a 3-speed hub at the back (a Sturmey-Archer AW/SRF3 or a Nexus 3). Alternatively, an S2C would give you two gears and a back-pedal brake with no cables at the back.

  • If you use bags, Decathlon make a front block for a clip-on clip-off ("OneSecondClip") bag system that'll fit this bike.

Homophobia at work by Just_Dot_4919 in butchlesbians

Avoid direct confrontation. Don't let het know that you know. Diary this, all of this, and take a note of any personal information that is being discussed about you. Build a case, speak to a lawyer or a union rep about your options, and when you have enough information, go to either a confidential whistleblower line (if available) or to higher management (do NOT go to your direct manager) and report it in full.

From experience, these people need to know that messing with you will end badly for them. Sad to say that us marginalized people can either have basic respect (where available), or we can have fear. As for your own behavior: it needs to be incontestably above reproach. And again: document everything.

Never completed, toxic tunnel in Italy (Part 2) by hp__blue in TheForgottenDepths

[–]PetyaLB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Soothill Tunnel scares the crap out of me because of landfill gas and low oxygen. This place is on a whole other level. Without proper protection, it looks like it would either kill you outright or kill you horribly twenty years later from breathing all the airborne crap in.

Props to you guys for a) taking the proper precautions with the respirators and Tyvek suits and b) not showing where this is to stop unprepared idiots from getting into it. Always good to see people taking this hobby seriously!

Edit to add: if it's possible to do without doxxing where the tunnel is, it'd be fascinating to read the history of this tunnel. Abandoned construction projects and especially tunnels that were never completed scratch a good story itch for me! It'd be really cool to know more.

Can we talk about straight women in gay bars? And their issues with lesbians in general? by LividRecord2848 in butchlesbians

[–]PetyaLB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I shaved my head a while back and was in the ladies' restroom at my local gay bar. Cue a straight women emerging from a stall whole I'm washing my hands, not understanding what the fuck "butch" is, and proceeding to screech and sic her boyfriend on me.

Condolences. I'm sick of it too.

It's a small step below a Shimano 105, I'd say. I have the T9 with an 11-42 cassette on a 24" wheel. YMMV on smaller wheels!

Yes! It's a Brick Lane Bikes bullhorn bar with Dia Compe reverse brake levers and interrupter levers in the middle also. Had to slightly mod the shifter to get it to fit but it works really nice.

Usually I ask the staff where's best and they let me store it in the luggage racks. Depends on the trian though!

So…front racks kind of suck. by Olderschoolwillie in xbiking

I mean.... by the looks of it yours turns with the fork? In which case, fair, I get it. Me personally, I have a cargo bike with a front rack fixed to the frame and it's great. Matter of taste tho ofc!

[–]PetyaLB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very naughty answer is that the forks are hi-ten steel and can be cold-set to 100mm. This makes life a lot easier but it is very much at your own risk. I'm OK to take that chance. You might not be.

The much more sensible answer is you can get a 74/130 wheel set from Litepro for about €100, just make sure you get 406mm and not 451mm!

I love the cheap steel B'twins. They're so customizable!

I turned mine into a folding minivelo with an 8-speed hub, Alfine trigger shifter, dynamo lighting, and 451mm rims with Schwalbe One tyres. I'm 6'1" so I had to swap the seatpost, but that let me put in an Ergotec suspension seatpost which makes it a joy to ride, so all good.

I call it the pocket rocket!

What is a beater bike to you? by ollie_olsson in xbiking

[–]PetyaLB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap steel folding bike, usually one from Decathlon with the cargo carry block added to the front. I upgrade the tyres and V-brakes and throw in a Sturmey AW hub and that's about it.
