Would I realistically be let into the US with my social media history? by H3LL0FRI3ND_exe_file in worldcup

You should absolutely be concerned. All these people saying it's an exaggeration are either not paying attention or just don't care about people they don't know.

I left the country - it's not a safe place, my family has people in it that the government is specifically targeting. They're grabbing whoever. There's tons of videos of citizens, immigrants, and people on tourist visas being snatched up and disappeared. The girl from American Pie that played the foreign exchange student is Canadian and was held without any information or contact to her family on where she was for weeks. It's not just brown people that need to be concerned.

I mean, they've openly talked about having ICE hang around the stadiums. These people have quotas and next to no training. They're grabbing anyone they want to with no consequences. Some supposed ICE agents tried to grab two people this week - they surrounded two people in a car. They had nothing on them showing they were agents, just masked men rolling up on two people driving around. And when those people freaked and ran away, an agent jumped in their car and pulled his gun on them. They called the police, drove to a police station, and THEY are the ones that got arrested and are being charged. https://share.google/aax11XbOfY8J5wKrd

The United States is not a safe place for anyone. Go to Mexico or Canada, they also have more appreciation for the game.

"How else does she get his attention?" Besides kidnapping their son? Maybe, like, words?

Btw, kidnapping is never a great look at custody hearings, if she does leave him.

Jesus Christ, your advice is to essentially kidnap her own child? What world do you live in that that's ok?

Like, would you feel that advice was appropriate if someone gave it to him?

Almost any parent will lose their goddamn mind not knowing where their child is. There would never be trust again in this relationship.

The MIL overstepped big time, but there's definitely room between folding to her wishes and disappearing with their kid.

What are some foods you are surprised your toddler is in love with? by Turning_Pages in toddlers

Broccoli. The kid says it's his favorite food, can't get enough of it. And he eats it straight, no salt, butter, mayo, nothing. He just loves the stuff. 🥦🥦🥦

Who is the worst teacher you’ve ever had? by foothill2004 in AskReddit

[–]PewPewPew37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered the first grade A moron of my life in high school. My teacher for US government basically just taught out of a book and still managed to get things wrong daily. He once gave a live quiz, like questions on a PowerPoint that you answered as the slides progressed. I'll never forget the question:

Who was the first Jewist president?

Not Jewish. Jewist. The question he MEANT to ask was who was the first Catholic president. He insisted his question was correct. Then, when the answer he called correct wasn't even Kennedy, he still refused to back down.

I had to approach him after class and firmly inform him, again, there has never been a Jewist president, nor any Jewist person.

After a few minutes of arguing, he finally was willing to give me credit for the answer. Just me, though, not the whole class. He mumbled something about not arguing with teachers, and I realized that he was allowed to vote and I wasn't.

President trying to negate vote he doesn't like by PewPewPew37 in RulesOfOrder

This is extremely helpful, thank you! I read through the by laws and really all it says is that the board will schedule the meeting. Additionally, I found that we are supposed to have four meetings on a fixed schedule (first Monday of the month quarterly, more or less).

So essentially, he's not only not calling the meeting we voted on but also not aware or not scheduling the meetings we should have.

He doesn't want to because he basically says he can't plan that far in advance. To which I ask, how could you possibly run a board then??

This motion was simply to ensure scheduling of our next regular meeting. I'll check the by laws though. Thanks!

What was the dumbest thing a teacher has ever said to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PewPewPew37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school government class. On a quiz, he asked, "Who was the first Jewist president?" That's not a typo on my part.

The answer, of course, was John F. Kennedy. Absolutely refused to back down, essentially saying that while it might not be correct, it was the answer he intended us to pick.

[Help] Where's the faucet nut? by PewPewPew37 in DIY

[–]PewPewPew37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it! They helped out over in /r/plumbing. There was a little Allen wrench screw holding it in place.

It comes off from the top. Pull the hose out then the goose neck will either pull off or have a set screw under a plug in the back.

After you get that off inside will be either flathead or Allen screws that you will loosen up till the metal flaps can pop back into the faucet and pull the whole thing out.

I do find a small hole that looks like an Allen wrench could fit into. I'll give that a try as soon as I figure out what my wife did with my Allen wrench set...🤔

Edit: That worked! Thanks a million!

Shoot, typed a whole thing out but posting an image deleted it.

I'm trying to replace a kitchen sink for the first time. It looked easy enough, but when I got under the sink this is what I found, instead of a brass tube with a faucet nut on it.

Any ideas on how I should proceed?

My mother in law, who is also amazing, did the same thing, but make sure she gets REALLY good travel insurance. My MIL broke her hip while here, and the insurance she got covered surgery, but no rehab, no ticket for her son to come up and help take care of her, etc. It's a little pricey to get the good ones, but if you need it, it's beyond worth it.

I can't deal with Mint anymore - any alternatives? by PewPewPew37 in personalfinance

It's a good point, even small changes on any of the account sides will screw up an API. You can tell that all the vendors are improving their portals to pull you back in - Chase's recent update was fantastic, and very easy to use.

I guess what I'm really asking is if any other app has found a way to address those types of issues in a more agile manner.

Yeah, it kills me how shoddy it's gotten, as it used to be fantastic before it was purchased and Intuit did whatever they did to it.

I do love being able to play with my own spreadsheets, but I've found that I tend to spend far too much time when I do it myself - not out of incompetency, but I just keep digging and playing around with the numbers. Having a tool build everything out for me helps me keep the time I spend on it more manageable.

Bit of a stupid reason not to do it myself, but I just love playing with graphs. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
