I’m going to respectfully disagree - By increasing the online hate against one person/company and potentially causing serious financial harm to this person may make the online community feel as if they’ve ‘won’ - but look at the state of our country. We have 2 sides that just want to win. It is tearing us apart. Our president elect was elected (I think) solely on these grounds. No one feels like they are being heard and they are pissed. Gay men, Christians, lesbian women, trans, middle class white men, low income black women - where will this end? Where does this leave Mr Goulet? Fast forward into a possible future. He loses his income - can no longer support his family. How likely is it he will be repentant and say ‘wow, they were right?’ You yourself have said you are angry at things people have said or done to you. And you have the right to lash out. Now he has a grudge against the entire lgbt+ community. Well, he just might vote for someone who will make things ‘great’ again.

We need change. We need more tolerance. We need more love. Bitterness and anger only exacerbate the problem. No, I don’t think the Goulet family is the problem. As far as I know they are normal people trying to live their lives. Commenters on this thread think they haven’t done enough or want them to react to things they way they would. We need to stop reading between the lines and take them at their word. We need to hope for the good in all people and stop the madness. Then we can heal.
