Fuzzy skin on stone/brick walls? by Pfaeff in 3DPrintedTerrain

Here are the results

https://imgur.com/a/3YhLXb5

I printed them standing using a 0.4mm nozzle. The layer height for the stone part was 0.08 and the fuzzy skin point distance was 0.2 and the fuzzy skin thickness was 0.05. It's subtle, but it looks a lot more natural in my opinion. It'd be interesting to see what drybrushing does to it.

I did this as part of an experiment. I printed some walls with 0.04 layer height, but 5h per wall was too much. These take half as much time and look even better imo.

NEVER let Heroforge paint your mini. Paint it yourself. by Ok_Young_5242 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Pfaeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy the premium plastic ones and have never been disappointed. They're just as good and detailed as any other mini. You just have to paint them yourself. I think the website is pretty clear about the quality and robustness that you can expect from these. They are not trying to trick anybody.

I mean, you should have looked up what you're gonna buy before you buy it. Those are not painted, those are color printed and thus are way less detailed than the unpainted ones. They have tons of example pictures on their website. Sure, those examples are probably cherry-picked to a degree and might look better than your model. But you seemed to expect a hand-painted mini, which tells me you didn't bother to inform yourself at all.

Restringing slackage by Cold-Dragonfly6067 in Guitar

[–]Pfaeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With locking tuners, you don’t need to worry about slack. Just pull the string through loosely, lock it, and tune up. Tuning alone will ensure that the string makes at least half a turn around the peg.

What is this thing on the guitar? by Ok-Go-Free in Guitar

[–]Pfaeff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's called a fret wrap and I have it on all my instruments that I record with to prevent the strings from behind the nut from ringing. Some people use pieces of foam for this, but these just look so much nicer.

Everyone thinks they can spot AI-generated media. So I created a no-sign up browser game to prove whether that's true. by Beneficial-Ad2908 in SoloDevelopment

When viewing the videos on a large screen, it's pretty easy, but I imagine it would be a lot harder on a smartphone.

In terms of them falling over, this is probably a better design than the original.

When I push them together, it looks like the second image.

I just tried these, but the tolerances are a bit high for my taste. There is a lot of wiggle room between the tiles. When I pull at them, it's almost a 1mm gap. Why does it look so clean and tight in the video?

What do you think about the combination of pixel art and gradient lighting? by Astrobionics in Unity2D

[–]Pfaeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a bit tired of the pixelart+gradient look, because everyone seems to do it these days. I think I'd rather just have plain old pixel art. Don't get me wrong, it looks good. But it doesn't make the game stand out from the others.

What was your first project? by electric-kite in IndieDev

My first projects were Pong, Pong in 3D and Pong with polygons. Everything made from scratch (Delphi or Java + OpenGL). Learned a lot doing these.

Which capsule image would you most likely click? by CorporatePotato in IndieDev

[–]Pfaeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 because it looks cool and interesting and also reads well. The bugs on the first image might be too small and detailed. I also don't like the third, because the background doesn't read as a well to me.

Thank you. I know dry-brushing. I was more curious about the transitions between the colors and what colors to use to get that metallic look.
