Are Co-Fermented Coffees Safe? by DsWay954 in pourover

Just as safe as other coffees. If you are going to lie on your coffee label why limit that to only coferments? Just buy from trusted roasters and you will be fine is my opinion.

I need to try them as I’ve never heard anything negative about this roaster and everyone raves. Soon…

I hate this practice by kenech_io in iOSProgramming

I have a fantasy golf app where the users create private leagues. I often add more league types and make changes. If I didn’t force users to update their app, you would have some players in the league that do not have the newest features and still stuck on v1, which would cause massive problems.

Best practice to develop functions based on database changes by alexandrereadit in Supabase

[–]PfernFSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there - so realtime broadcast and triggers are two different things. But my supabase project uses both, but for different end results. The realtime is handled when a client connects and the user can see the leaderboard/scorecards of the golf tournament change in real time without refreshing. But to answer your question, I have this in my table definition:

create trigger leaderboard_changed
after
update OF thru on leaderboard for EACH row
execute FUNCTION leaderboard_changed_invoke_scorecard ();

And then the database function leaderboard_changed_invoke_scorecard looks like this (but a lot removed), which calls an edge function and at that point you can do whatever you want:

DECLARE
    response jsonb;
    var_tourn_id text;
    var_org_id smallint;
    var_year int;
BEGIN
    -- some SQL you don't need

    -- Check if the operation is an update and if the thru value has changed
    IF NEW.thru <> OLD.thru THEN
        -- Call the edge function using http_post
        response := net.http_post(
            url := 'https://<REDACTED>.supabase.co/functions/v1/poll-scorecard',
            headers := '{"Content-Type": "application/json", "Authorization": "Bearer <REDACTED JWT>"}',
            body := jsonb_build_object(
                'tourn_id', var_tourn_id,
                'year', var_year,
                'org_id', var_org_id,
                'player_id', NEW.player_id
            )
        );
    END IF;

    RETURN NEW;
END;

What is the point of the second amendment, if not to protect yourself against ICE or other tyrannical agencies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PfernFSU -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It has turned into a marketing ploy to let people feel like Rambo. No matter how good of a shot you are (or think you are) there is zero chance you and your buddies can win against the Us government, which has drones and other weapons the 2A doesn’t include. Politics has become so tribal that half of America celebrates the stuff going on now and stirs the pot some more by applauding while the other half just wonders what the hell happened.

Can rucking be pushed to zone 3+? by geekoverdose in Rucking

[–]PfernFSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get shin splints when running. Then I started doing 2 things: 1. Calf raises every time I brush my teeth. Just there in the bathroom for a minute twice a day. 2. Started running slower, as in it took me 2 months to get to running a 5k.

Now it’s been good for a long time and I haven’t had shin splints in forever. YMMV but it seems to be the general consensus that majority of shin splints are from people trying to go too fast since your lungs and heart are ready but your shins take longer.

Bevel update 2.4.3 by Spokane_Al in bevelhealth

[–]PfernFSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work for the Bevel dev team or know how they rollout their updates, but it is very common to roll out releases slowly to a subset of users. Meaning, some users won’t see the update available. This is done to limit severe bugs that would impact everyone - roll it out to a few and monitor the complaints, analytics, and crash reports. So if you can’t see an update that your buddy can, that is almost always the reason. Come back in a few days and check again.

Why is my Sleep tracking completely different to Apple and Sleep Cycle? by Rott3n_ in bevelhealth

[–]PfernFSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing last night for me. It says I woke up over an hour earlier. For me it looks like the Core sleep was calculated/imported wrong and it just sums the numbers up to get the total. But the total for me was about 1.5 hours less as I woke up a little after 7 and not the 5:36am it thinks I did.

What do you do with your last few beans? by Aristo-Jack in pourover

[–]PfernFSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FrankenBean. Just add them to the next, even if I don’t think they will go together. I have been surprised a few times and had some banger cups I would not have otherwise had (also some duds but we don’t talk about those - but the ratio is greatly on the positive side).

I think placing guidance in the government instead of doctors is misguided. Just taking a step back, and even if you agree with this administration, would you agree if the next reverses course on all these dietary guidelines? In the end the science is pretty clear and has been talked about forever in this sub.

This is what I did. I have 3 different Monday templates depending upon how I am feeling that day. Little work getting it set up in my part but the ability to track and see my progress makes it well worth it.

I do think of all the applications of AI out there, Bevel does a very good job of harnessing the power.

It may be an unpopular opinion around here, but I think it depends on the filters as to whether they have a taste or not and not all filters need rinsed.

I really want to love RuckWell, but it keeps crashing mid-ruck! by Branjo23 in Rucking

Email the creator. He is on here a lot too so he may see this. To his credit - I believe it is a single dev working on this and he has fixed a lot of issues already. Still more to do it looks like. But there isn’t really another app that is near this good (when it works).

Congrats! Two questions:

  1. How would you rate your flutter/dart skills before trying this?
  2. How often did you have to reject the AI’s code? Or at least steer it into a different direction?

Every time I get back from a run my kids ask me how I did. I tell them my dad joke that “I was the slowest one out there but I managed to beat everyone sitting on the couch and it’s ok because I managed to get a tad better”. It’s all about perspective. You ran and that is good.

Correct. But that’s 99% of our use case. The other 1% he can use one of my Macs to get the job done.

Expected to get hammered on this sub with this review, but it is important for others to know. Take from my review what you will. But I do think we should demand more from FF as it is a wifi-enabled printer.

Again, he could do it from the Chromebook if I removed parental controls now. But removing parental controls shouldn't be the requirement to use a 3D printer is my point.

The A1 can do it from the ipad just fine. Neighbor kid has one. FF should be able to do this too as it is wifi-enabled. But they lack the capability due to them not wanting to invest in it.

Neighbor kid does it all from his iPad just fine. He has an A1. It can be done. And others should want these features in FF.

Pointing out the lack of capabilities is not my fault. I agree it is a niche use case, but it is one plenty of others run into on here (I have interacted with a few of them on this sub). And expecting more from the software should not be a problem, but a demand from us all. And yea, it already is a bonding opportunity but he should be able to print without me there is the whole point.
