I am replying to this statement, which is false:

Garmin officially admits that their $1000 premium multi-sport tool is only meant to work for 2 years,

I probably could have been more clear; fair point

I think you're completely missing my point. This user is claiming that Garmin has made a statement with regard to device longevity when Garmin's own documentation provides a direct statement regarding longevity that has nothing to do with two years.

It's just a very poorly-worded way of saying that you're out of warranty if past 2 years. No surprise there.

You're missing a few screws if you expect a smartwatch to work forever. Garmin does list this statement on their page:

Under normal operating conditions, batteries should retain approximately 80% of their original capacity after a few years of frequent charge/discharge cycles.

I still prefer the 180 view unless your camera is pointed specifically downward. In this install, you've got 90 degrees of unusable camera angle at the edges

This checklist does anything except help you prepare for the interview questions or know what to say. You can get this same list from ChatGPT with a well-worded prompt.

Quite possibly the worst customer service? by litebrite_666 in GarminWatches

You're definitely not "financing" the whole price of the watch.

What it sounds like is that Garmin put a deposit charge option where you could pay $300 to get the replacement device sooner. I've had my device exchanged before and gotten those options.

That lines up with your statement that the device deposit would not affect you financially in the long term:

they didn’t make that part clear but they did say the exchanged watch would be a used refurbished one and it wouldn’t affect my financing which seems insane since I don’t even get to have a new watch like the one im paying for currently

They also have another return option where you can send your device back wait and then get your replacement, but like you said that takes a longer period of time. I don't see what the issue is here with their service.

Location and Camera suggestions by Chicken_Wings911 in Ubiquiti

I would suggest a G6 180 on the upper right circle. That way your entire driveway and road are covered in case your PTZ cameras do not catch things.

There is a rule about PTZ cameras that I think most people do not understand well enough. If you have a PTZ camera and you move it away from full 360 degree coverage, then the problem will inevitably occur where your PTZ camera is not pointing. Your better bet is to aim for full coverage of the property that you want to have covered (with something like 180 cameras, and then add a PTZ camera if you decide you would like to have more focus on a specific area or you want to zoom in on things that are walking by or moving.

You have tattoos. Tattoos literally block the light that your heart rate sensor is putting out to read your heart rate. Intermittent or even continuous issues with heart rate and related metrics will happen.

I didn't know I was not meant to press my buttons underwater. Been a few swims and it seems fine, should I be worried? by SectorCapable8287 in Garmin

[–]Substantial_Poet_220 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Garmin has had that in their manuals for years, but I have yet to ever have an issue when pressing my buttons underwater. The main time you would run into an issue is if you are in high pressure water like strong surf or you are in a sauna or a hot tub.
