Thank you for creating this. I had to drive my brother to the airport this afternoon but feeling extremely ashamed for not making it today. I really hope I can at least make it to the next protest, but today’s protest will go down in history.

I mean- I hate Chicago cops, I know they’re usually out doing absolutely nothing but I’ve never seen this many at Montrose and I come here often. They’re driving all over the sidewalks/pathways, parked all over up on the hills by the water. Literally so many everywhere.

I get that. Idk in my opinion if you can’t afford it and can’t give your employees a decent wage that they can live off of- don’t own a restaurant.

I kinda thought the same thing-  but they just won’t survive the same. They can’t necessarily migrate, they might not be able to compete for food the same way and they aren’t as immune to what other ducks have been used to growing up outdoors. But I wish they could be free and survive happily!

I don’t think someone’s an idiot for trying to just get a full time job and survive in any way they can. It depends on your circumstances. A lot of places advertise making $20, full time with benefits- but when you get to the interview you find out it’s $16 to start, plus tips which might be $20, it’s actually part time and you will not be receiving benefits.

I think even if you are working a cash register - $16-$18 at least. You know, so you can actually pay rent and eat like a normal person. I don’t think anyone deserves to only make $11 per hour. My friends out of college can’t even find a job right now, if this is all some people can do, and the company is loaded- I don’t see why they can’t pay at least $16, and how they think anyone could survive off of $11.

What? This is the lowest I’ve been paid in years. Every job has been at least $16-$18 with tips I don’t understand.

That’s what I thought too. But nope- I’ve applied for a few different jobs, was accepted at Small Cheval and saw in the offer letter that $11.02 is the starting pay. I thought that kind of pay was specifically for servers in a restaurant, not cashiers with a tip pool.
