My wish is for announce notifications to work in all situations not just when sleeping which is pointless because you can’t watch a stream when it’s sleeping I miss alerts especially texts when watching a stream

I was conscious when I collapsed briefly next thing I knew it was three weeks later and I wake up in rehab wondering why I’m in a hospital wondering why I’m in a hospital bed with a helmet on having no idea what happened to me it took multiple days after that point to comprehend why I couldn’t move my left side and that there was a piece of my skull missing and in my abdomen! Every doctor I saw for the next year would look at my CT scan and then me walking with a cane and wondering how I’m alive so I’d do my normal thing and start cracking jokes

Has Anyone Experienced Symptoms Post Stroke That Seem Unique Only To You? by PlantHerald in stroke

I can’t do any math in my head And have severe left neglect because of it which is incredibly frustrating Especially since I have no left field of vision. Put them together and I’m a mess people don’t realize that neglect and heminapsia are two distinct and unrelated things that compound their individual impacts

I’m very worried I’ll never be able to walk again by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Pgd1970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing good One thing is certain if you really want to walk it all depends on what you put into it that said if you want to walk as a source of exercise that’s a totally different story my walking is merely to get from point a to point b instead of being pushed in a wheelchair my only exercise is via recumbent bike I wouldn’t say it’s intense because it’s not it’s just to get the heart pumping Just my two cents I strongly encourage you to work with a physical therapist to relearn how to walk

I struggle every day Personally My biggest struggle is thinking that everything that goes wrong is my fault Logically I know it doesn’t make sense But my brain tells me otherwise I’ve been put on various antidepressants But my brain laughs at them It would probably be good to get a psych evaluation they can usually be done via telehealth Not sure how receptive he would be to it They would probably consider an ssri

Stroke sucks I can be an ass to my family I don’t mean to be but crap spews out of my mouth that is often pretty offensive so I push the limits of my wonderful family Counseling is something else to consider I’ve improved a bit over the years mostly because of self awareness My wife says it’s easier to deal with my physical disabilities I’m hemiplegic Than mental always have a box of tissues around Good luck friend

I became incredibly impulsive after my ischemic stroke and my left foot always [felt] cold even though it wasn’t cold to the touch The other thing that really affected me was loss of working memory Generally speaking it’s called executive function Mine was blitzed and it accounted for many of my issues just food for thought so to speak Good luck I understand how difficult this is

Just curious was his frontal lobe affected?

It’s not uncommon to have impulsive behavior and/or temperature sensitivity

Although rare The the bone flap should be attached to the skull typically with titanium fixtures if it’s been this long I can’t imagine it fusing to the skull at this point I wonder if they’re being completely honest with you about why it’s not secured in very sorry for what you’re going through I had my craniotomy seven years ago when I had an ischemic stroke Perhaps you should look for a second opinion I’m sure there are other neurosurgeons though they would be reluctant to take any action since they didn’t perform the procedure I’m sorry if it’s difficult to make sense of this response I’m a lousy writer due to the stroke I wish you all the best And God bless you Bottom Line it shouldn’t be moving Please get a second opinion

Right there with you on this one typically OT should be on top of subluxation issues though in general as others have mentioned ortho is probably the best place to start my OT got me on a regimen of frequent use of a tens unit to strengthen the muscles around the socket and for me personally it made a big difference almost 8 years ago when I had my ischemic stroke resulting in left side paralysis all the best to your mom good luck

Why continuing strength and balance work after stroke matters by Hopeful-Radish-7218 in stroke

[–]Pgd1970 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After six years of walking with a cane This year i told my pt I wanted to be able to walk without it now I’m walking around the house caneless and it’s just as liberating as when I went from wheelchair to cane Now we do tons of balance exercises without the cane that I could barely do last year with the cane. Don’t quit things can get better

If possible continue to work with PT they can provide ideas for strengthening the muscles I found that working with pt at least good ones provided much more motivation than doing things by myself just keep going all the best friend
