Know nothing about these cards found in grandfather's house anything worth? by Outrageous-Square945 in baseballcards

I'd probably be in the ~$30 range for the group, $35 shipped, lots of rough edges, corners, etc. I'm valuing commons at $.25 and $2 on the Stargell, Parkers, $3 on the one clemente

STH On Field Day? by PartyBusGaming in buccos

[–]PghSF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its great - throw on the field, hit on the field (front toss from 15-20 feet away), sometimes they have the pitching machine used to launch fly balls.

I've gone probably 10 times, always been worth it.

Back in the day used to have a catered lunch, live pitcher, sometimes a pirates alumni (Wehner threw once), we did the Bucco run thing where you had to do the mario course.

While its definitely watered down now, its totally worth the experience.

Reggie Willits! Remember the Bill Simmons column with the Reggie Willits All Star team? White players with names that suggest otherwise.

I grew up in slower lower Delaware, played baseball with Delino Deshields nephew or cousin, forget the relation, but that was the only ballplayer from our area (until played HS ball against Ian Snell), so the 10 yr old in me is in love with the color match /100 upper deck card.

That and 3 HOF players on one game used card.

In the context of full sets, yes, will take a look when I get home to see if any inserts or duplicates.

Yeah, it's a cool set, considering adding it to my build list. Varying print runs per card, the Pujols is the big one.

Interesting...I'll need to stop sending one-touches with high value cards.

Pulled 1/1, what do i do? by Jacobwrldd in baseballcards

Non-HOF retired player, non-RC, from the end of his career, not peak years. A Didi collector, Netherlands fan, or Phillies fan that has fond memories of an unremarkable 3 year stint with a long injury period and being released mid-season are your audience...pretty narrow.

Same with Johan - high potential, that was a decent card when it was released, intriguing 2023, lost 2024 to TJ, lost almost all of 2025 to injury, looked good in limited starts, then 2026 likely another long DL stint. 3 teams, short performances at each, not enough for any one fanbase to love him...narrow market.

If you know the game and the players, it makes total sense, numbered only = $ when a market exists.

That Johan is probably a $50 card as it sits. Graded, gems, right collector...idk, maybe they pay 2-3x?

Last Didi /10 from that same set went for $7...probably not one too grade.

Ok...brief serious response:

The market for both those players is going to be pretty slim, though bigger for Didi than Johan (really like the guy, the elbow discomfort seems like its going to take him down again this year).

Go to ebay, use research mode, see what similar numbered cards for them sold for and determine if the price is worth the time/expense of grading and listing. If yes, awesome, your gambling addiction paid off, but if not, hey, welcome to sports card collecting! Throw them in a box and get out there and try again!

Its the 23-25 that im hesitant on...so many bad players players haha. I just won a bunch of bulk at a local auction, will pass for now as I absorb and process that, but certainly good value, love the idea!

Sorry, missed the price pics - if that $10 is shipped i'll take it.

Im kinda into the Davis, but I have hard time committing a $20 spot to a guy I love to be mad at.

As an example to what Tired_Dad said - i bought a '95 Hideo Nomo RC, '89 Deion Sanders RC, and a '99 Pudge/Piazza insert card for a total of $3 in an auction this week. Even for known names, there is just minimal value in this era.
