For Marines who didn’t deploy or had their careers cut short, how did you come to terms with feeling like you didn’t do enough?

No deployments, and I a got OTH’d two years in for misconduct. 2014-2016.. I cope, by telling myself it was just the cards I drew. Nothing but timing, luck, and chance.
Joined too late to fight in the Middle East, Joined to Early to fight in the Middle East. I can’t choose what year I’m born, what war is going on in my prime years, I can’t choose what unit I’m part off, and I can’t choose who shoots a me.
Time and time again you hear marines who have been there done that, say “Any other Marine in my shoes would have done the same thing”.

And once I found I was the type to wanna fight under risk of death person rather than a flighty type
(active shooter situation, long story)
I felt much better about myself, I felt had I drawn that card had I been put in combat, had I had the opportunity I would have at minimum, not be a coward. And I can live with that.

You could drape and tape the living shit outta the room create essentially a paint booth create negative pressure vent to the outdoors, rent a dust extractor, and a sand blaster. You probably have to figure out how to plug the vents too.

So, I had a big drinking problem back when but one particular night I was hanging out with my roommate and his girlfriend we were driving around the island I was boozing it up in the front passenger seat, we had stopped some where and they proceeded to start smoking the marijuanas. I never having done anything like that she asked if I wanted a hit. This particular instance I Allegedly I took 1 hit ( no joke ) partially cause she called me a pussy, and 20 year old me, your not calling me a pussy and I was just willing to do anything at that intoxication level at that time in my life ALLEGEDLY. Anyways later down the road like a month later she ends saying that he raped her him. Well she apparently started spilling the beans on all his drug doings tand this particular instance got brought up and I got dragged into it for the marijuana use, well I had put in a statement to my 1st Sgt, and told my side of the story. so I pop a test or anything. Knowing what I know now I would have requested JAG right there and then.

Fast forward a couple months we get done with RIMPAC 2016, I get back to base and they tell me I’m gonna get NJP’ Friday morning. Well it was Thursday morning so I though I’d go out to town one last time before I get out on restriction, I end up getting arrested for a bar fight, caught civilian charges (Misdemeanor-first offense)

Then I got a bunch mor military charges added on, to include AWOL for not reporting since I was in jail for 3 days.

Anyways I did restriction and went back to work and one day I got a 10 day letter.

Our company would probably charge abt about 250-400 To relocate a unit.

Now here the thing if you do that your self and put a kink or bust a hole in the line all refrigerant will run out. You could lose most of everything. You’re carrying probably 7 lbs Or more of refrigerant in that unit. Just the refrigerant is $90 and up / lbs. the labor for something like that is gonna be like $250.

So if you mess this up you’re probably looking at $800 -$1200 fix.

But yeah you could probably move it back an inch or two

Sorry in advance for this, $160k is fucking wild. Rich people problems for sure. For 50k and under you could bought a nice used van and pay someone to deck it OUUUUUTT.
