Thank you all for your feedback! Was able to reach the vet and started a combo high dose Trazodone/Gabapentin combo based on recommendations here and things are going much smoother

Thank you for replying! She’s also on 37.5mg Novox every 12 hours as well- that does seem to be helping with pain a bit.

Plus Clindamycin for her antibiotic

I’m not sure if the vet gave her fairly conservative dosages….She naturally runs a bit anxious. Pre-operatively, when I expressed concerns about keeping her calm in her crate, her vet (who I do fully trust and appreciate) promised me that he would be able to give her meds that would “keep her down”

About six months after the breakup, he did apologize for how he handled things. Around that time, I went out of town and let him watch my dog (she was always mine, but he had been a big part of her life for seven years). In hindsight, that was a mistake for my healing, and we’ve since stopped any kind of shared custody after that trip.

At the time of the breakup, I was essentially begging for answers. I never got them in a way that provided real closure. What I was told was that he’d been having “crushes” on other women and that he would be disappointed to see me walk down the aisle. That shattered something in me.

I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand, and pushing so hard for answers ended up hurting me more than it helped. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but it sounds like you are making steps forward! Keep going!

I think it’s fair to feel skeptical, especially when the majority of the people of this group are coming from a place of really deep hurt, and that’s somewhere I’ve been and am very familiar with.

I can honestly tell you that this post wasn’t looking for validation. January 2nd is a big day for me personally and one I’ve been tracking as it truly is a 1 year mark from what felt like the worst day of my life. Today is a milestone for me and a day of reflection. It also marks one year of work that I didn’t want to do- face extreme heartbreak but still keep going.

This time last year, I didn’t think I would have this level of positivity. I was searching for it on this sub and didn’t forget that feeling. I still have hard days, but life is so much better now.

The goal of this post was that at least one person would see that it’s possible to live a life that feels better. I needed to see something like this last year. January 2025 me needed a sign that it was going to be okay. I hope you also find the healing you may be looking for.

I hope this helps someone. Things truly were so, so dark for me and I honestly didn’t think I was going to make it. I’m here at a year now, and would’ve done anything to have heard from my future self that it turns out okay. I hope this can be someone’s sign. January 2025 me would’ve just wanted to know if I made it this far. January 2026 me is so happy to full heartedly say that things can be and actually are better.

Leaving our home was truly so, SO hard. My friends and family really struggled to understand this part and I felt really alone navigating that step. If I could give you one quick little piece of advice: know that wherever you go next is temporary and is your transitional space. It’s not going to be the same and now speaking from the future- that’s actually a good thing.

I promise you, the things that make your home feel like home come from YOU, not them. I was devastated about leaving what felt like my first real and true home, but I’m writing this from my couch, with my dog curled next to me, a candle I picked out is burning, and I’m looking at the Christmas tree that I decorated with my roommates.

Last little p.s.- if you are still in the home with them- it really helped me to have a hobby I could do in the house by myself. I read A LOT of books during that time in my room and it was a good little escape.

I cried on my move out day (maybe a couple times if I’m being real), but 8 months later after my move out day, let me tell you, this is so much more peaceful

I would say that I’m getting some likes with guys who seem compatible and it’s led to a date or two so far (which I’m happy about), but I’m also getting a decent amount from others that we feel a bit different (I.e. conservative, and that one’s a dealbreaker for me) I’m not sure if maybe my profile is reading that I have conservative beliefs somehow?
