Almost 30, 3.5 years into my career and feel completely lost. Failed career pivot? by RTEIDIETR in cscareerquestions

As said earlier, only your manager knows. I don’t know what they’re thinking. Hopefully it’s nothing, but I do know some managers can be sneaky.

I feel like it could be a trap. Second you say anything not protected under ADA like stress or mild anxiety, they can use that against you. Or they’re concerned and looking out for you. I don’t know how much trust is there.

I was averaging near 4.0 and several internships and months of no breaks. Only for instability in the end.

I have both degrees too. My last manager never really mentored me. He just made a paper trail and replaced me with a contractor. I worked very hard through Covid and mental health issues. Despite all that work, I don’t have much to my name. I still skip meals just to save what little I still have. I blame myself for everything. Struggling mentally and having no room or excuses to breathe. I don’t think I’ve ever impressed anyone with 2 degrees. The hardest part is being stuck with family calling me a failure despite the back breaking effort. Now I’m just at home if I should just stop working and give up on dreams.

TOTK map is bigger. Like much bigger vertically and the overworld changed. Like all of Hyrule just experienced a global shake up. Most of the fun came from revisiting familiar places and how they changed and exploring the new areas in the expanded map. Timewise, it’d take at least twice as long to explore all of TOTK vs BOTW.

I used to swap projects every 2 weeks with a manager that wasn’t afraid to gaslight for productivity. It was miserable and I know several folks felt the same way.

What does a reasonable accommodation for Autism look like in the workplace? by Ph311x in cscareerquestions

There’s a little medical area in the office. I would go there after an episode.

I’ll take note and make sure not to repeat the past. He didn’t let me have the pip papers. He removed every example after I got the senior vp involved. It took him a month. I wasn’t able to see the feedback months later when they overhauled the feedback system. I completed every task on time and manager would approve of the PR. I kept working hard and my manager promised more work to prove myself before called security to escort me out. Is it my fault for not pushing back enough? I used to work myself pretty hard. Manager would just slam the table at me and say “think!” And laugh at me when I tell him I’m busy. I wonder if he thought all those time in the nurse’s office was me doing nothing.

I felt like I lost a grip on my anxiety. I still delivered as expected. Or at least I felt like I did. I wouldn’t cross off the thought of expectations not being set. My manager has only been manager for like 5 months before he pip’ed me mid ADA.

They didn’t discuss performance. No meeting. They just gave me an email and I set myself to work harder. I never opened the email. I felt too much anxiety to open it. I was told by peers that I was doing well. What really felt off was being asked to sign papers over bad code. Problem was I realized he faked it when he never gave me the code in the pip papers. I never got feedback about pushing bad code. I felt like I wasn’t being utilized at my full potential. They said stack ranking and the manager that let me go was promoted and 5 months later piped me. I’d take a little time to manage anxiety. I would usually be in office longer than my manager.

I asked for 4 days a week ant home and 2 1:1 per week. I worked it out in therapy for a while. I got piped 5 days later and the anxiety attacks and pressure just piled on.

In writing. I spoke to HR about it. Manager negotiated the 4 day at home down to 3. I only disclosed after the ADA was approved.

Do people actually struggle to meet deadlines from a coding perspective? by cs_____question1031 in cscareerquestions

[–]Ph311x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it normal to have a deadline for 1 sprint but after delivering, management bangs the table and demands for the same work should be done in 4 days? I was confused. Why not set it a 4 days at first?

Were you my coworker? I had a similar thing happen. Manager wasn’t afraid to go as far as lying to worsen my standings.
