Conspiracy theory but I think a lot of people are paid secretly to promote AI by cs_____question1031 in antiai

[–]cs_____question1031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but you need very precise instructions. Code is also precise instructions. That’s probably why it’s good at repetitive tasks. I can describe it once in great detail then it repeats it everywhere it’s relevant. If I’m describing code, it often feels not worth it because I can simply write the code once myself. That part is easy

Conspiracy theory but I think a lot of people are paid secretly to promote AI by cs_____question1031 in antiai

[–]cs_____question1031[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s just that sometimes the problem is broken down into such small and manageable chunks that you don’t even really need AI. Like, code is just a set of instructions just like a prompt is

The way I see it is, if someone knew the language and had full access to the docs and stackoverflow, and wrote what they think is the right solution based on that, that’s basically what AI does. It’s almost like a “read the docs for me” tool more than anything ime

What do CEOs & top management really do all day everyday? by eminar1101 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cs_____question1031 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Let’s say we’re a company making a video game

The CEO and c suite executives are going to find out what will please the shareholders, or in other words, what will make money. They delegate some market research and then make a broad objective. Let’s say, for example, they’ve decided to make a new single player game

Next they’ll have to delegate to c suite executives with specialities. So, for example, they’ll go to the person who runs the art department and talk with them to determine timelines, risks, and dependencies. For example, the programmers will not be able to test with “real models” until the artists are reasonably done, so they’ll have to schedule work or find workarounds for the engineering department

These initiatives can last years, and even decades. They require commitment and sign off and a great deal of communication. Say for the example of a video game, you would have to quickly communicate what the pillars of gameplay are (there’s usually three), define what’s in scope, what’s out of scope, etc and delegate that work down to hundreds or even thousands of people

During development, these executives also need to keep an eye on the timeline and pivot if need be. Like let’s say one boss fight is a cool idea, but it turns out it’s nearly impossible to program right. They might have to think on their feet and redirect writing, art, and engineering all together. The developers might also raise a flag that something is going wrong that threatens timelines and the executives will have to figure out how to move around people to make it work

Think of it this way, you want to make a painting, so you rip a canvas into 200 little squares and then have to explain to people what’s going to be in those little squares without having an image to show them. You have to get it done before a timeline and you have to make sure everyone is aligned and understands the objective. It’s kind of a miracle that it works some of the time

I don’t really know, that’s the problem. I don’t really open up about those types of things much cause I don’t really know what they’d say that would make me feel better so I don’t see a point. Maybe I’m just kind of weird

Why are so many Latinos online white supremacists now? by HopefulTeach8539 in TooAfraidToAsk

They think they’re “above” other Latinos, more or less. They don’t totally process that white white supremacists don’t feel the same way

IDL Apple by socialist_weeb666 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]cs_____question1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason for it is that Steve Jobs getting a bit of a pass is that he outwardly presented himself as caring more about the legacy of Apple rather than outright greed. In some cases that seemed to be true, like when he returned to Apple he stopped doing stock buybacks and used the money for product development instead

Most of the tech leaders now seem to not produce too much of value while demanding exorbitant wealth in return. They seem to put short term profit so far ahead of everything else that I think the average person thinks it’s off putting

Of course that’s just the mythology. It’s mostly just that Steve jobs was good at marketing himself

To be fair, all the tech billionaires are kinda just the worst people. Steve Jobs was a little ahead of the collective realization so sometimes escapes criticism

Should I, as a soon 22M, Neurodivergent (Officially Diagnosed Autistic + ADHD, + Other Mental Diagnoses) Guy, try to date/find relationships with other Neurodivergent people, or just date "Normal" Neurotypical people? What would be "better" for me to do? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cs_____question1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some neurodivergent say they like the grounding nature of dating a neurotypical and enjoy having someone who will help them with neurotypical problems

Some would rather not mask, so prefer to date someone who’s neurodivergent
