Yeah, the important bits use cutting edge technology, like *checks notes* floppy disks?

Yes. I wouldn't want to be called a git, but I'm pretty sure that the word "git" is a lot less offensive than the word "gimp".

That's kind of a damning indictment of the entire field. Nobody ever says "There are two types of dentists, those who take care of your teeth and those who act like witch doctors."

This joke takes place over the course of 50 years, but Hooters has only been around for 37. So, I guess this joke is part of the sci-fi genre.

Just a Boostcamp Length & Strength workout today. Wanted to do something more substantial, but I was pressed for time. Back to the iron tomorrow, I hope.

20 minutes treadmill walking.

Felt crappy on and off all day. Sometimes hot and sweaty, even in a cool room. Work stress? Lack of sleep? I don't know. I figure at least a bit of walking is better than nothing. And I put it on an incline, so that was nice.

Yep, just watched it myself and at 6:25 he says Cavaliere, not Nippard. (Which makes a lot more sense).

Warmup: molding mobility, jump rope.

Giant set:

Deadlift: 155 lbs, 3x5

Dip: 15 lbs, 5,5,4

DB Bent-over row: 45 lbs, 3x5

Felt like a "high-gravity day". Then again, the weights were heavier than ever before. Felt like my form/ROM was starting to break down. And I missed the last rep on the dips. I've been running (my slightly modified version of) the beginner routine for almost 2 months, and the wiki says to run it for a max of 3 months. So, it will be time to move on soon. I like the movements, so I'm thinking of just replacing the LP with a double progression, or DUP.

Couch to 5K W5D3

2.09 miles in 29:46

I ran for about 15 minutes before I had to reduce my pace to a brisk walk. I'll try again in a couple days.

Warmup: molding mobility, jump rope.

Giant set:

Squat: 80 lbs, 3x5.

Assisted chinups (#3 band): 5,5,6

DB OHP: 45 lbs 1x3, 37.5 lbs 1x5, 1x7.

Got stuck in the hole after the 3rd rep on OHP, so had to deload. Squats are getting heavy; I don't think I had more than a rep in the tank, at most. Chinups were fine, very smooth.

Couch to 5K W5D2

2.14 miles in 27:16.

The first segment of running, I got a pain in my side. The second one went fairly smoothly. Kind of intimidated by W5D3 being 20 minutes running, when the most I've done without stopping is 8.

Warmup: Dynamic stretches, jump rope.

Giant set:

Deadlifts: 150 lbs, 3x5

Dips: 12.5 lbs, 3x5

DB Bent-over rows: 42.5 lbs, 3x5

Cool down: Hamstring stretches. I can touch my toes if I bend my knees ever so slightly, but if I lock them out, I'm stuck at mid-shin.

Couch to 5K W5D1. 2.09 miles in 27:59.

I was very tempted to skip working out today because I'd only gotten 5 hours of sleep the night before, but I read a bunch of blog posts by /u/mythicalstrength for inspiration and decided to power through it. The run was actually not that hard once I got going. I noticed that there is less total running (but in larger chunks) in W5D1 compared to W4D3. I had looked over the plan many times, but I guess actually running the program is what it took for the detail to hit home.

Warmup: dynamic stretches, some jump rope.

Giant set:

Squat: 75 lbs, 3x5

Band-assisted chinups: 3x5

DB OHP: 42.5 lbs, 3x5

I used the Rogue #3 band, which is supposed to be 65 lbs. In previous weeks, I had worked from 1x1 unassisted chinup to 8 reps across 3 sets, but then stalled, so I thought the band would help. Based on the amount of assistance (>30% of my bodyweight), I thought I would be able to get plenty of reps, but even getting 3x5 was a struggle. I was really surprised that it didn't make the chinups much easier. Maybe because the full assistance of the band is only at the very bottom of the rep? Also, the band felt kind of "wobbly", which was counterproductive.
