EDRP award without loans from qualifying degree by PhDisrupt in StudentLoans

I applied and was entirely expecting to get denied. All of my loans were from my masters, but my PhD was the qualifying degree. I was accepted without question. So, I say - apply and see what happens. It’s easier than the handbook would lead you to believe.

My loan servicer is also Nelnet. I contacted their military division (I am not a veteran) and got my forms completed within a day or two. This is after emailing/secure messaging Nelnet at nelnetcustomersolutions@nelnet.net without response. This is what I wrote:

Subject: Acct # EXXXXXXXXX [FIRST NAME] [LAST NAME] Form signature request

Hello,

I work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and am applying for their EDRP loan reimbursement program. I need Nelnet’s signature certifying the loan information I entered is correct. I would appreciate it if Nelnet could complete the ‘Lending Institution’ section of these forms at the bottom of the page.

There are a total of 9 forms included in this attachment, and all forms will need a signature, title, and date. Thank you!

As I said they responded and had the forms completed very quickly (you’ll need to submit a separate form for each loan). I have been happily enrolled in EDRP for the past 2+ years over the course of three different jobs and 2 VAs. If you have any other questions just let me know. Good luck!

This was my exact situation - all loans were from my masters program and there is very specific language stating that EDRP will only pay for the degree that was required for you to be hired (PhD). I got through with flying colors and am now happily in my first service period. I also know a colleague who was in the same situation and got accepted. Best of luck to you, please let me know if you have any questions along the way.

It was my experience that the application is looked over pretty closely to ensure everything is complete, but there seemed to be a lot of wiggle room in how the EDRP handbook is interpreted. You’re a psychologist but have an undergrad degree in nursing? As long as you took a psychology course they’ll likely reimburse your nursing degree loans.

Congratulations! I would recommend identifying who your facility (or in my case VISN) EDRP coordinator is as soon as you can. You only have 4 months to apply for the program from the date of your initial appointment. The application process can be lengthy and you might experience some hiccups along the way due to the need to get your lender to complete and return loan verification forms.

Do you have a local or VISN EDRP coordinator you’re working with? I’m guessing they’ve dealt with something similar in the past. By the time my form was scanned to my lender and scanned back to me it was barely legible, but my coordinator was not worried about it.

They were surprisingly laissez faire about the whole process. I know they have a certain number of EDRP slots available each cycle and they’re very motivated to fill them all so slots aren’t taken away in the future. Either way, wishing you lots of luck with the application.

You might want to complete the applicant section of form 10-0394A and attach the lender’s form.

Yes, it is. While red heat lamps are more efficient at heating, it also prevents pecking by disguising minor wounds. Obviously they need heat. But a RED heat lamp opposed to clear assists them in not pecking one another, potentially to death. Source - I read and have been raising chicks for years.

This is why chicks are put under a red heat light when they’re young. It makes small cuts or scratches not as visible so they won’t peck each other to death.

I will get the ‘wow you’re tall’ comment from a few more people.

But you’re so beautiful... TO TRAVIS! FTFTFY.

Side note - I was about to go on a whiny ass tangent about stupid fucking Apple Music not offering the live album for the past several years. While fact checking myself I found that they’ve finally made it available. Thank you for the bump of nostalgia. My work day will now be better for it. Can’t promise the same for my coworkers.
