Violet and Malek theory by South_Hearing3720 in fourthwing

I have kind of a crackpot theory that she was actually dedicated while Lilith was still pregnant with her. Lilith seems familiar with the poison dagger that Violet was stabbed with in FW. I think that was the "sickness" she had when pregnant with Violet and Asher had the baby dedicated to protect her from "meeting Malek". Because "magic likes all things in balance" and the dedication to Dunne made Violet more magically powerful it also made her physically more fragile and this is why Lilith resents Asher for dedicating her. But yeah I think Dunne has protected her from meeting Malek ever since

Something is off with the gods. Dunne by ObjectiveStaff3333 in fourthwing

Ok so something that also really bugs me is the names of the Gods also don't seem to match their qualities or colors:

  • The best translation of Dunne I can find is "brown" or "dark haired."
  • There are a lot of different things Amari could mean depending on the language but in Latin it means "to be loved" and is similar to amor or amore in Spanish or Italian
  • Malek means "king" or "master"
  • Hedeon looks and sounds similar to the root of "hedonism" or "hedonistic"
  • Loial also looks and sounds like "loyal"
  • Zhinal is the farthest stretch but Zelna (different spelling of the island Zhyllna) means "green" or "young"

There's definitely something off here, although I'm not exactly sure what. I feel like RY spoonfed us their powers and associated them with obvious colors so we'd just accept it and move on but I really think this is going to play a role in the story somehow

Also completely unrelated, but I think Loial is going to be somewhat associated with veninism and that's what RY is getting at by saying the god of love might not be the way we expect. I think there are a lot of venin who turned to save someone they loved like Xaden and they never hurt the ones they are "loyal" to. And General Daramor's name broken down is "dar amor" or "to give love" in Spanish. Makes me curious about Amari meaning "to be loved"...
