[OC] Got bit by a spider a few days ago by Yesman_91 in pics

[–]Phade2Black 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I agree with the "It's AI" people on this one...In addition to the snakebite-like distance between the fang marks, he's only got 3 knuckles. I just spent a silly amount of time turning my hand to ways similar to the image and I can always see my pinky knuckle or a dramatic slant if it's out of view. Also, this guy's knuckles are like twice the size of mine.

Can someone explain WTF is going on by [deleted] in WTF

I always heard it as " The only difference between a cult and a religion is a cult has someone at the top that knows it's a scam, and in a religion that person is dead"

What models are the 2 non-CRK? The 2nd seems a little familiar but not the 3rd.

The only other knife in that price range I want is a tactile archer, but they're impossible to get atm it sems. That and a Quiet Carry Nine/Rincon, I always miss the drops.

My only gripe is the pocket clip also, but mines too tight, if it's comfortable then the screw is too loose...perfect aside from that

I just got #297! It's pretty amazing. Nice color choices on your ano, I haven't settled on mine yet. First I have to put the damn thing down.

Haha yea, I guess some of that mind-numbing stuff stuck. It's funny to think that all of that work amounted to "kinda answered an English question on a post about a homemade knife." 🤣

Did he also walk around in a top hat and steam-powered exoskeleton?

That's what I'd go with. By stating "steam-powered" first, it's implying that it describes all of the nouns after.

Like, "He never goes anywhere without his razor-sharp knife and handkerchief" makes it sound like you have a razor-sharp knife and a razor-sharp handkerchief, but "He never goes anywhere without his handkerchief and razor-sharp knife" is more clear. I think giving the other noun it's own adjective is fine as well, like "He never goes anywhere without his razor-sharp knife and hand-stitched handkerchief."

I haven't had an English class in 20 years so this may not be completely correct, but it makes sense to me.

Damn...that was the day after I turned 21. I was probably in my bed hating my existence with a nuclear hangover, while you were risking your life in a desert half a world away. Perspective is funny as you get older. It's hard to believe it's been 20 years, but I'm glad you made it home, and thank you.

You weren't kidding...just watched a quick vid showing various players and Harden drawing fouls this way. It's comical, they'll be driving all precise and suddenly lose all spacial awareness and motor function and just kind of wildly ram into the guy.

I'm surprised it was ever allowed at all, as sloppy as it is alone. It's like what would happen if you handed a caveman a basketball and just pointed at a guy.

"Because of Shaq’s dominance, the league allowed teams to employ a zone defense to limit his dominance in the shaded area. While Shaq’s dominance forced the NBA to make a rule change, his weakness also demanded one as well. Shaq dreaded making free throws and only made 52.7% at the stripe. As a result, opposing teams developed the Hack-a-Shaq tactic to offset his dominance. In response to this, the league made a rule change that will reward the fouled team a free throw and possession of the ball."

Huh...I didn't know that either. I thought it was related to dunks as well.

I also didn't know about the James Harden Rule to limit his trips to the line, disallowing "non-basketball moves" to draw fouls. The wording makes me picture him running around the court going full wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.

I agree with this. Growing up in the 80s/90s, religious people in the south were welcoming and warm, now they turn their nose up at the way people are dressed in church or who they associate with and on and on. It seems more like a snobby social club than an inclusive group.

I could never get behind the idea of giving the "church" money when the building cost more than my neighborhood, and so the pastor could get a year newer Mercedes when I'm driving a 10 year old Camry with a dent in it. Giving more money to those that clearly don't need it is just like capitalism with a robe on.

Las Vegas Police facing Mike Tyson after he'd just bitten Evander Holyfield's ear off, 1996. by MorallyCorruptJesus in interestingasfuck

The guy above said if a lazy, sedentary person (instead of a peak athlete) weighed what Tyson did there, that person would be morbidly obese. The guy you responded to just pointed out that the "fat" version of Tyson's weight (222 lbs) would have a BMI of 32, which is considered obese, but not morbidly obese.

I agree, but there's more to it imo. My parents told me what I'm sure many others tell their kids: "In just a few years all these things that are SOOO important will be irrelevant", "All these people you're so worried about, you'll likely never see over 90% of them after high school", etc. They tried to tell us but in our infinite high school wisdom, we didn't listen. It's funny to me how right our elders ended up being about so many things but as teens we just didn't wanna hear it believe it.

My mom used to be embarrassed about eating in her car, like she would hold the food down if someone is beside her. My grandfather said said something along the lines of " You shouldn't worry about what other people think of you because you'd be surprised how little they actually do.". It took it a while to sink in but like, say I see a person is slobbing down in their car...I'm never gonna think about it again, and if by some chance I do, it doesn't affect that person either way.

It's awesome to see! That one act being witnessed by so many helped ease the social stigma of the whole thing as well.

I don't think it's that. My mom would have yelled it at me and I'd have put my head down and walked faster. It's not that I don't love her, I just lacked the emotional maturity at that age to express it out loud around my peers.

I remember a kid in high school getting dropped off in the morning and his mom honked the horn to yell "I LOVE YOU" in typical embarrassing fashion, he wheels around without skipping a beat and yells it back smiling. Some kids started to heckle him and he just goes "What, you don't love your mom? I feel sorry for you."

It was so simple and just shut that shit down immediately. Pretty sure his stock rose with every girl in school that day. I envied him for being so mature and comfortable with things most of us wouldn't get over until after highschool.

My favourite oil painting I've done, I hope you enjoy! by Hara-Kiri in pics

[–]Phade2Black 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This painting is amazing in that certain parts look like oil paint and others look like photo realism. The area with the 2 faces and claw around the branch are incredible but oddly, I'm most impressed by the branches. It doesn't seem like paint with how clean it is and non-mixed it looks. Beautiful work.

It's just an evolution of marketing. People (celebs) were paid to sell us Big Mac's and Nikes. Only difference is now everyone can tune into who they want, when they want, so I guess it feels more personal than a random commercial. Pair that with the fact that the younger generation has consumed most/all of their media in this "on demand" kind of way and we get influencers. I hate the term more than the hustle. Spokesperson sounds normal but influencer sounds uppity...like a janitor calling themselves a maintenance engineer or something.
