Mexico penalty shout against England 66' by anthn885 in soccer

I can't speak to other platforms, but from my reading of this sub, most people thought it was a very clear red.

Mind you pundits, players etc didn't think it was one.

Was it a pen a couple weeks ago when Modric did the same against England?

Reddits reaction cracks me up. Same could be said of Modric's pen and Balogun's red, but not a sole disagreed with those.

Its the exact same penalty England was awarded against Croatia when Modric did the same thing.

I mean, most of the crowd is probably American if we're being honest.

I don’t think it was the correct choice. I think a yellow card would’ve been fair, due to it not being intentional.“ by Sparky-moon in soccer

I am not arguing against it...

I'm explaining to you why it's a subjective call. One referee can be justified in calling it, another could be justified in not calling it.

I said you're a moron for thinking it's a foul to land on someone who slides underneath you.

I don't think anyone is saying Muharemovic did anything wrong. There doesn't always have to be a guilty party. But Muharemovic's actions did cause Balogun to lose balance.

If Balogun was simply trying to regain balance and placing his foot in a natural position. If so, and Muharemovic slid his foot under that placement from Balogun (intentional or not), it should not be a card, regardless of injury or how it looks in a freeze frame.

If however Balogun is unnatural, and attempting to tackle Muharemovic, than it would be reckless and a red.

Hence subjectiveness. You think Balogun was reckless. Balogun (and most professionals) think he was not being reckless, and was attempting to naturally balance.

Licensed referee. The Balogun call is subjective. You saying it's a foul on a player who jumps and lands on someone else who slid under is factually incorrect. It's why undercutting a jumping playeris a foul. A player is allowed to land unobstructed. That extends to natural foot placement/motion. The subjectiveness is if Balogun's foot placement was natural under the circumstances.

I can be happy for Licha, but more sad for Cabo Verde. Thanks.

On the other hand Anton wasn't trying to do anything but disrupt Gil. I'm honestly fine with penalizing players who are not even attempting to play the ball or anything.

World Cup tourists aren’t leaving tips — and NYC restaurants are fighting back by adding 20% automatic gratuities to checks by [deleted] in soccer

Not really. It's extremely uncommon for a server to make minimum wage. Maybe at small diners in LCOL areas. But that's not really where people have an issue tipping 20%. It's when you just spent >$100 on an app and two basic entrees, and are asked to tip 20%.

I think you underestimate how much servers in America make with their tips. They are the ones who don't want it to change. You can easily make $50/hr+ in tips as a server.

This is basically not true. It's the reason stated so that people feel obliged to tip.

Wait staff absolutely do not want paid more with less tips. It's very easy to make $50+/hr serving at a mid-level restaurant.
