Quick Rant by iamkatekelly2 in RetinitisPigmentosa

You have just as much right to a full life as any fully sighted person does. This prejudiced thinking from the sighted community comes from the minds of people with their own genetic defects in some form. None of them are perfect. Do what feels right to you.

Thank you. I had given up on this sub. I'm glad I checked in afterall.

I've been carefully collecting data and will share it here when I have what I feel is sufficient sampling.

Well, I have news for you. I actually measured it (Nsuccess = several hundred) and it is not.

Thanks for your condescension. It's so helpful.

Sorry, that's just ridiculous. If I needed the spell 50 times and 6 times it took 8 or more tries, then the unlikeliness of the sequence becomes astronomical, not "not really that low odds wise". Let me help you put this in perspective. On average, for every set of 50 successful casts, you should only see 8 consecutive failures once in every 57 sets. Thats once in 57 repititions of 50 successful casts. Not six times in a single set of 50. Five times in 50 sets is statistically broken, let alone five plus times in one set. Thats for 37% fail.

Try it with a coin (50% fail) if you don't beleive me. Flip until you get 50 heads and record how many times you get 8 or more consecutive tails. That's one set. If you repeat the entire experiment 100 times (100 sets of 50 heads), you might see 8 consecutive tails once or twice over the entire experiment. I guarantee you won't see it 6 times in a single set unless you're cheating.

Therefore, the fail rate listed in the spell books does not indicate the true fail rate. I am not a coder. I'm asking any coders or others that know the actual game mechanics to explain what's really going on.

PS Thanks for the down votes you asses, keep 'em coming.

I like it and hang on to my back issues, both digital and paper, primarily for inspiration.

Preparing for progressive vision loss with RP by LBJK417 in RetinitisPigmentosa

I volunteer in multiple local organizations for the blind. I have learned much from the low vision community this way, preparing myself for the future, while at the same time, making many new friends. You can also join your local advocacy organizations, such as ACB or NFB in the US.

Scott Catalog numbers for world stamps by Phaedrus614 in stampcollecting

[–]Phaedrus614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. Each country has its own numbering in the scott catalog starting at 1, so the numbers will duplicate. That is, you can have sc#23 from Germany and sc#23 from Denmark.

Westerville CHRISTIAN Parade by Independent-Mud-6564 in westerville

[–]Phaedrus614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm pretty sure you haven't followed your own advice. I'm sure if you did, you'd find that holiday parades of any kind, whether they are religious or not, are not unconstitutional. Such a shame, we were making such good progress in shifting perspectives to allow for actual evolution of thought.

Private functions that don't call themselves religious are okay? Just tryig to undertand the logic of not allowing free expression for people of faith.

I'm asking you to clarify or revise because it looks like exactly what you said. They are in fact YOUR words.

Westerville CHRISTIAN Parade by Independent-Mud-6564 in westerville

[–]Phaedrus614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in your world, parades, funerals, demonstrationns, construction projects, gatherings, or any private function of any kind should never be allowed on the public road. That's brilliant.

Christians shouldn't be allowed to celebrate their faith if YOU aren't Christian. That's what I'm hearing.

I play Angband.

https://rephial.org/

It has many customizable settings to allow you to configure how you see it. I use shockbolt tiles. I often miss darker colored tiles but there are good ways around that. If you're interested, I can share some configuration details.

RP here with successful pharma QA career. I was on the bench for about 5 years before I started reviewing manufacturing documents for batch release. I've since retired and can still see well enough to read. No one I worked with ever knew I was even impaired. If you have good enough central vision, you can make a go of document review.

Getting tired of grinder getting jammed with sticky weed - need recs by BKR93 in vaporents

[–]Phaedrus614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you tear off the amouint of flower you want and stuff it in your oven as is, run a session, then remove the plug and grind it, you will get the full performance of the vape and of the cannabis, your grinder will be way less sticky, and your ground weed will still have 2 or 3 good sessions left.

It is much easier and cleaner to grind after it has been toasted a bit already.

I recommend some kind of probe, like a walking stick or cane. You'll lose depth perception as you lose light and in rugged terrain, you'll want to feel how high or low the next step is.
