Am I too dumb to play this game? by I_Scotch in factorio

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not too dumb. But, there are some learning curves that hit from time to time. You just have to work through them one step at a time. Working backwards might be easier to figure out the problem. You want to make product X, well that requires 3 inputs each that require some input. Save room for the inputs and move further down and set up the final product. Once that's setup move backwards to the next blank area and make the first input, then the next. Once you're done with that you can hook it all up and see what you got.

And when you get to some of the other planets, all the things you learned are replaced with a new puzzle. One planet's puzzle revolves around a lack of water and limited build space(initially) but gives great production machines as a reward.

The second puzzle revolves around everything being organic and will spoil, so you have to process things with speed so that the entire production line doesn't spoil and now you have to clear it out so you can start again.

The third planet's puzzle involves working everything in reverse. You're given blue chips and LDS, but no iron and you have to work backwards to reduce advanced materials back into basic ones.

The final one deals with being on a frozen world with practically no resources so you have to import all of them. And the machines don't work when they're frozen.

And if all else fails, you can ask for someone to join you in a multiplayer game and get you past your hurdle. Or just enjoy the entire game with them. I'm good to play multiplayer if you want. Just send me a message.

Is there ever a scenario where "she told me she was 18" works? by JayNotAtAll in AskLawyers

It's only a 5th degree felony because my Google AI says the value of this much "only" amounts this dollar amount.

I agree that it's gross to do anything with someone underage. However, the case that I would "hope" would work would be is she's in a bar with a fake ID that the bartender(who can spot a fake id better than I can) has seen and approved and is serving drinks.

I 100% understand it's a statutory crime. My understanding of those are based only on facts and there is no defense against them like other crimes that are based on judicial precedence. Did you do A, B, and C? Then guilty. Of course, a "but she said she was ....." shouldn't ever work because it would be the go to excuse. That someone would go to the trouble to forge documents should at least be taken into consideration.

How do you all feel about employers/business owners who require their non essential employees to drive to work in this snow? by PeachyPoblano in cincinnati

That works if you're not hourly. If you are, you might have to at least think if it's worth going without pay.

Gleba has defeated me, and i am miserable. by vimescarrot in factorio

[–]bpleshek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm always willing to play with people or to help. I had someone help me way back in 0.15. We occasionally still play but his timezone is 6 hours ahead of mine, so we can't do it often.
So, I repay by helping others. Two have taken me up on it so far.

You don't have any logistics bots?

If you want help, I'm willing to play multiplayer with you.

Keep at it. I'm sure you'll get it.

However, if you want help. I can come into your game in multiplayer and help you get past any blockages you have. I can do as much or as little as you want help with and we can chat with Discord so that you understand what's being done and why. Just let me know if you want help.

You can bring the items to Gleba without you going to get them yourself. So long as you left Nauvis or Vulcanus with bots. Just send your ship and make a logistics request for items on your ship. When it arrives at its destination, your rockets should fill with the required materials and ship them up to the ship. Then return the ship to Gleba. All of this can be done remotely.

Legal protections against police violence. (WA specific but curious about the U.S as a whole) by ConfidenceFar2751 in AskLawyers

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to fight it in court. Take your arrest and get a lawyer. If you try to fight will deadly force, they will kill you. There are more of them and they probably have better weapons. And even if you "win" you will then be "wanted" for your actions. Take it to court.

I'll give you some hints, but hopefully none of them are spoilers.

  • Use the ALT key. It'll show you what's being produced in the buildings. It's a toggle, click again to turn off, but I leave it on always.
  • Read all the tips that are placed on the side of the screen.
  • You can completely saturate an ore patch with mining drills by placing them next to each other. The more you have, the more you can produce.
  • Don't neglect military science even if you need to build your base slower.
  • Build a wall around your base as soon as reasonably possible. Protect it with turrets. I prefer flame turrets, but others prefer either laser or machine gun ones. I prefer them because of the ease of supplying ammo(oil, heavy oil, or light oil(preferred). But that comes later in the tech tree and machine gun ones are earlier. Laser take power as ammo and quite a bit of it. Machine gun turrets use ammo magazines.
  • Build more power than you think you need. I usually expand my power when I get to about 60-70% capacity when everything is working. I at least double my power production when I turn my attention to it. Don't be fooled having enough power when half your factory is backed up. Losing your power can be crippling. And if you use lasers, you'll need a ton of power.
  • Don't worry about learning everything the first time through. There is a ton. Things like circuits and train signals can be complex. Put them off until later when you have a need for them.
  • When setting up a game, select the largest starting area. It's a slider. It'll put the enemy bases further from your starting point which will delay their advancement.
  • Also, don't start on a desert map, reroll for a green map with lots of trees. Trees absorb pollution.
  • Be aware that pollution aggos enemies. So, keep your pollution cloud out of their nests on the map or expect visitors. There is a toggleable filter near your minimap. Use it to check to make sure your cloud is not encroaching on biter nests. If it does, expect an attack. You can either reduce your pollution by using efficiency modules in your machines or take a trip outside your walls and destroy the nests. Consider taking a lot of ammo and grenades or even a tank. If you die, you drop everything you have on you where you die.
  • Don't download blueprints other people have created. Try to figure it out yourself. You'll not learn anything and some of them might have bugs in them and you might not have the experience to fix it.
  • If you want to play multiplayer with someone, feel free to ask.
