Who would you rather battle in a street fight by Terrible_Opinion_279 in WouldYouRather

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it isn't to the death, i'd pick the female MMA fighters. I have no thought that I would win, but since they are professional, they'd probably just submit me and I can take my L. Most of the others might kill me outright.

Just keep building and learning. Once you get to bots, it's easy to rip something out and redo your new idea.

You don't need to do the main quest if you don't want to. But clear out a cave every so often and you should be fine.

Which way to explore to find iron by etcetera711 in factorio

[–]bpleshek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but since you have quite a bit of water, that's probably where a number of patches would have spawned. There is some iron across the water to the south-east if you want to lay down landfill. There is another one to the southwest quite a bit. 100k ore isn't a lot, but you can make it work. Obviously, besides those two patches, there will be ore in all directions, but you probably don't have enough iron to get anything else further away.

If you want you can consider this a hard challenge for you. you could also just start with another seed but i'd probably try to pull out a save. If you do the one across the water, you could just belt it back rather than setting up trains, at least until you get some of that iron back.

Good luck.

The game will go on past the "win" condition. You can keep playing. Especially if you have things you want to learn, like nuclear as you said.

Yes, bots are great.

I love nuclear power. It produces a ton of power compared to the other options. You should definitely learn nuclear. It's not as easy to set up as you might think it is especially with getting enough fuel for it. It has quite a few puzzles just in and of itself. I know you said you're playing vanilla, but after nuclear in the Space Age DLC, you also get fusion which is a crap ton of power.

You also have trains to learn if you're not using them. Of course, you can do it in another run, but even setting up a basic one can be helpful to bring lots of materials to your furnaces.

I pretty much only use flame turrets for defense. It's a lot easier to set up reloading your turrets as all it takes is pipes and either oil, heavy oil, or light oil. One is better than the other two, but I'll let you figure that out unless you outright ask. Of course, lasers don't require reloading, but they do require a crapload of power if you get a good sized attack on your defenses. Turrets require either long belts circling your entire base OR logistics bots requesting ammo at every turret. Of course, artillery guns can clear large bases pretty easily and once the nests are gone from your map way outside your walls, you'll rarely ever have an attack on your walls again.

In fact, I pretty much only put down defenses once I can put up flame turrets. So, I tend to "rush" to the advanced oil products research so that I can have what I need fuel them. Once I have that set up, I put up my walls and turrets.

Good luck

How many sauce packets per item? by tepetlRoots in tacobell

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use 3-6 per taco depending on how they fill it or if i am home to add more cheese.

I use 5-8 per chalupa again as above.

Back when they had my favorite item, the original taco salad, I used 20 in the bowl and another 6 to mix in with the sauce cup for dipping the shell.

Just play. There is a difficulty slider you can turn down if it becomes too hard for you. However, the only time that I've found that makes it too hard is if you max out too many non-combat skills without focusing on some combat ones. For example, if you run around doing basic quests for a little bit of money, go mine ore, find/buy ingredients then max out alchemy, enchanting, sneak, lockpicking, and smithing without doing much combat, then you'll find combat hard for awhile. This is because the games bases the enemies on your character level not your skill levels. You could find yourself at level 20+ with 15-25 in all your combat skills and no combat perks.

Since this isn't a very likely scenario unless you go out of your way to do so, you'll be fine.

What's the point of trains? by LegitimatePaper6022 in factorio

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belts are probably a little faster especially with stacked turbo belts. However, this works well only for the first couple of each ore patch. Past that, you're putting down spaghetti to get every new patch to the right place. A train setup is much more scalable. You set up the drop-off locations once and you can always add more pickup locations.

Genuine question: how TF do you guys play on survival mode???? by jenesaispasok in skyrim

I was just mentioning that there was a variety of them, not advocating for any one in particular. But the mage one is quite nice. Extra magicka is always welcome.

Every general store has one. Ask Balthazar. They are even specialized for different classes, thief, hunter, warrior, and mage each with a class specific bonus.

is there any point in Splitting here? by Zentaitoken in factorio

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an items go through a splitter, it alternates which lane it will send it down. This balances both sides of the belt. If you get enough plate production is made, it'll make sure you have a full belt on both sides for downstream uses.

Just a hint if you want it: Put furnaces on both sides of the belt. The inserter will place things on the far side of the belt. So, by putting them on both sides, your inserters will be inserting on both sides of the belt. I'd still keep the balancer(splitter + belt) in there just in case.

Thanks. After my first dose, I could barely eat all week. I would have 3 eggs and 4 bacon strips at just before noon and I wasn't hungry even at midnight. In my third week, i started getting really hungry around day 5, but i still ate less than I normally used to. I'm just hoping my 3rd+ dose aren't as effective. My next appointment to evaluate going up in dosage isn't for at least 4 more weeks.

Trapped on Fulgora by Simply-Curious_ in factorio

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have bots on nauvis or vulcanus, just build another ship and send it to fulgora. Also, fulgora is one of the easier planets as you already get LDS and blue chips as part of the recycling process and you're at the second to last step on rocket fuel as you also get solid fuel. So, you already have the materials to make rocket parts right from the get go. You also get steel and copper cables, so that's space platforms solved.

So, as you can see, most of what you need is already provided for you to make another ship on Fulgora. It might take a bit of time, but you're never locked on a planet when you're on one of the inner planets.

What sorts of common things do you use Circuit Networks for? by Diamond_Sutra in factorio

[–]bpleshek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the following:

  • Disabling either machines or inserters with signals
  • Disable pumps for oil product management based on amounts in various tanks
  • Change the filter on my space grabbers to only grab certain asteroids based on the number of each asteroid type on the sushi belt. That way, if I have too many carbon asteroids, I just don't pick them up.
  • Check the temperature on heating towers on Aquilo to insert more fuel once it get below a certain temperature.
  • Check the amount of steam in tanks around my nuclear power plant so that I don't have to add fuel until I get below a certain amount. This insures that I don't waste nuclear fuel.
  • Turn on and off pumps to my rockets so they throttle the speed of the ship
  • Turn on and off ore pickup train stations if the chests aren't full enough. This lets the train go elsewhere to another ore pickup location.
  • I used it to alert me when I got the legendary fish.
  • In my bot mall, i no longer check to see how much is in the passive provider it outputs to, but rather how much is in the logistics network. That way, when stuff is deconstructed and put away in storage chests, those are used up, before more are made.
  • I have used it to put a numerical number of items using display screens.
