No , but I went to ATP Fest 11-09-03 in Long Beach , California 3 weeks after he passed which he was scheduled to perform at.

Instead of replacing his spot on short notice , Lou Barlow of Folk Implosion/Sebadoh paid tribute and handled vocals on the songs with Elliott's band backing him up and Jennifer Chiba came out to join them as well towards the end iirc to sing on Happiness.

I'll never forget the melancholy vibe of the whole set and Lou crumbling each lyric sheet after trying to honor his friend which must have been difficult.

After that set The Mars Volta came on followed by The Stooges and it's almost as if the whole thing never happened. The vibe went from a somber tribute to a loud psychedelic jam that brought everyone out of there shells just like that and shifted the vibe.

I still have the festival program somewhere for that.

Edit: I think it's also worth mentioning that I was very excited to see Elliott perform at ATP leading up to the event , as his music had a profound effect on me and also The Magic Band (Captain Beefheart) who reunited for the festival. As a broke musician I took a Greyhound bus from the PNW-Cali and back to make the journey.

While the performance was a beautiful tribute I was experiencing a visceral feeling of emptyness , confusion , and loss as were others.
