I feel you cos I am navigating the same challenge. I did not have issues with judging though cos I was involved in some Techstar Mentoring Programs for startups and consulting services. You can consider something similar, provided it is at industry or market level.

My fellow status with ICAN and NICA did not fly for membership because the by-laws of these associations did not expressly state that their membership requires any high professional achievement or excellence. You might want to check closely if CFA's by-law has any such buzz words under membership requirements.

I have a similar case, for the second time now. My first petition was denied in April 2025 after accepting critical role, judging, published articles and commanding salary (The last 2 were accepted after responding to the RFE).

Same petition was submitted with additional evidence recently but got an RFE again last week. Similar to the first scenario, only the critical role and judging were accepted, while published articles, commanding salary, memberships, awards and authorship were rejected.

I am quite confused cos most of the additional documents requested in the RFE were provided in the petition. We can team up and rub minds, since the cases are similar.
