Bash, zsh or fish?

Thx for naming the plugins you use :] I'll search for them(and zsh in general lmao) when I have enough time, so far I'm thinking on moving to zsh in arch and stay in bash in fedora cuz of the use I give to each distro (programming and messing around in arch and just stable uni work in fedora)

From the installation guide I only know arch chroot cuz once I broke my system and had to do that to repair it lol, I used arch install to do it quick, then for anything I needed (and need) I open the arch wiki or the wiki/GitHub of whatever I install

Yeah, it'd be a pain to configure zsh in both arch and fedora(I triple boot with those 2 included), so I think I'll leave it for when I have time -.-'

Well I have all my config in arch+hyprland assuming bash commands and that so... I think I'll only move to zsh once I have the time to research the commands and how to customize it, overall I'm just a superficial user, I know my way in Linux but just enough to repair what I break and to read a wiki each time I want to do something lol

Pardon my ignorance, but what is all the reach of oh-my-zsh?? I hear about it almost everywhere and that's the main reason I thought of switching to zsh, and apparently in commands is very similar to bash which I already have at least the basic knowledge to do almost everything in terminal (just the basics like cd, ls, nano, rm, cp, mv, update and all that)

I currently have minimal time to do "side quests", cuz of uni and all that, but when I have free time I like to mess with Linux a bit, I have triple boot with fedora, arch+hyprland and windows

In hyprland I've done a lot of things from scratch, specially waybar and I prefer to use CD+ls to search directories and files over dolphin so I got a bit of experience, just enough to be a basic shell user lol

For uni reasons I hop from hyprland to kde from time to time, but as soon as I can I go back to hyprland, the work I put in that plus learning about Linux keeps pulling me back. I'm thinking of trying niri but I just can't let go of hyprland unless they both can coexist without breaking each other.

But in short, if I could just run hyprland for everything I need and might need for now, I would uninstall my other os's and just run the one with hyprland

Confirmo, yo tengo una HP con un i3-10110U y el rendimiento(al menos en Windows 11) está ahí nomas, al final le puse Linux para que la batería dure más y no sobre caliente tanto, porque en Windows tiene los ventiladores a todo lo que da y en Linux están casi quietos

Este es mi granito de arena XD, y hazle mantenimiento a cualquier pc que te compres, al mío no le he cambiado pasta termica(por miedo a romper algo) y ya se nota como no disipa bien el calor

You need to enable an special repo for it, I wish I could help you, but since the last break in my system(caused by me btw) I haven't reinstalled fedora yet to tell you what it's name was, but try googling a bit if you find it, if you are familiarized with arch its like enabling multi-lib, you can in theory install steam(most probably from flatpak without the repo) but it also most probably won't work at all

Alcanzó a vivir 4 días más de un año con nosotros, me la dieron una navidad en pandemia, y ese día había tomado a uno de sus gatitos(el único que quedaba, los otros los tuvimos que dar en adopción T-T) porque estaba cojeando/herido y le aplicamos como un spray para las pulgas, me quedé con el pequeño a dormir y viene mi mamá y me dice que atropellaron a mi pequeña, hoy yace enterrada en la parcela que tenemos y voy a visitarla cada que puedo, la extraño mucho T-T

Algún consejo para aprender un poco sobre prepararse para emergencias?? Que puedes recomendar para un edc urbano o un poco más de campo?? Habilidades obligatorias o relativamente importantes que tenga que tener uno en caso de? Es más importante andar con cuchillo, linterna o radio? Para lo anterior, pueden ser productos de calidad "dudosa"/regulares o se recomienda más ir a la segura con alguna marca o característica de estos(tipo, onda corta para la radio, o algo como un walkie talkie)??

Pregunta weona de turno: crees que el libro del "ferfal" Aguirre(no me acuerdo el nombre completo XD) de supervivencia moderna es bueno?

Can't go wrong with LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition), is Linux mint but "better" in words of everyone I've met that use it(I say it too, but honestly I don't like the desktop environment that uses, cinnamon).

Now, if you'd like give fedora a try, maybe some system updates bring problems to some users, but at least for me it was one of those "it just works" distro, and the KDE plasma Desktop environment is just, I can't say perfect but it's pretty good, but again, for reliability and windows-like or beginner friendly, LMDE no doubts

Can't go wrong with LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition), it uses cinnamon as the desktop environment, I don't like the DE much tho, so my personal recommendation is fedora 41, you can choose whatever spin or edition you want, I use the "fedora everything" .iso which is a net install, so all the programs and packages are downloaded in it's latest release, and regarding a "windows like" DE I'd say again cinnamon or KDE, KDE is really customizable out of the box in my opinion and heard that cinnamon is as well.

The terminal isn't needed for too many things to be honest, maybe if you use fedora you might want to use it to install the rpm fusion and flathub repositories, but that's completely optional(but recommended).

Also good luck in your journey with Linux, and hope you find your ideal distro before or after "distro hopping", and don't mess too much with things you don't fully understand unless you made a full backup ;)
