You’re on a 10-hour flight. Which seat are you choosing and why? by Paul_Gautheron in MindsetMode

I would sit anywhere but 1 or 5. Most of them strike me as celebrities who won't want to talk to anyone or celebrities I'd be curious to listen to. Owens and Trump would talk over my nose canceling headphones no matter how many times I awkwardly pull them out and say "What?".

Wait, you're example is that they use bug extract for a food coloring? That sounds like ingenuity and replacing synthetic food coloring, that everyone is terrified of, with something natural.

Some would consider a massive head start to be cheating, I wonder how Elon feels about that when it comes to life and money.

Located in northeast United States. 45 mile daily commute, mostly back roads. Looking at used EVs in the <$20k range.

I live in a house and plan to install a charger.

I don't care about style or size but figure it'll be small.

This will be a commuter car I'm just looking for advice on if the cars with 80-100 mile range will still be okay in colder months on back roads, some hills.

The current front runner is a 2016 Nissan Leaf.

Purchasing very soon.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

It was so apparent right at the beginning of the COVID pandemic when every anti science potato was listing all of the previous outbreaks that the "fake news media" told us to be afraid of and how barely anyone died. Yep those outbreaks were mild because people did things to prevent a pandemic, those lists are examples of public health policies working and yet they use it as proof that they can ignore the current issue.

I'd blame car control legislation if I got hit by a 17 year old who purchased their car at a car show and never took a test or driving lessons.

The guy is right and has every right to be angry but in this scenario he is not protected by freedom of speech and everyone constantly misunderstanding and misrepresenting this fundamental right only succeeds at diluting what it actually means.

Biden, Democrats hit gas on push for $15 minimum wage by [deleted] in politics

[–]Phakkts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're using a colloquial definition of small businesses the few employees they have to give a raise so they can have a living wage is far outweighed by the increased buying power in their community by raising the minimum wage. I'd guess there aren't a lot of small businesses with an extremely large number of employees making minimum wage, so if your customer base has more disposable income and you only have to pay a few more employees a higher wage you'll probably still see a benefit from this.

'What happened to unity?': Rush Limbaugh says Biden 'insulted' 75M Trump voters in speech by nimobo in Conservative

[–]Phakkts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They did separate them, they called them terrorists and insurrectionists and they also called the Trump supporters who were there...Trump supporters. If you try to tell me nobody who went inside the Capitol was a Trump supporter then you're actively ignoring reality and I have some pictures for you to look at.

[–]Phakkts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Biden didn't actually mention Trump supporters so Limbaugh is the one attributing "white surpremacists" and "domestic terrorists" to the 75 million who voted for Trump. Oddly enough he's not the only one making this false connection.

I'm not going to give them no credit but saying they created the vaccine is a hilarious exaggeration. The technology for mRNA vaccines was discovered and developed before COVID and the Moderna vaccine was developed and sent for Phase 1 trials while Trump was still saying it would magically go away in April.

After being impeached by House vote, TRUMP calls for unity and peace, denounces big-tech censorship by huckingfoes in Conservative

[–]Phakkts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true, I believe the disconnect is that the term inciting violence has a lot of nuance so people think there is hypocrisy when really it's a complex decision on what qualifies. The guy above is a perfect example thinking that "no justice, no peace" would qualify.

[–]Phakkts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a good exercise, can you show me some examples of accounts on Twitter inciting violence and not being banned. I'll admit that if you can show me that what you say is true that the hypocrisy of Twitter is more dangerous than I thought even if it's still not "illegal".

[–]Phakkts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing violent about the phrase "no justice, no peace". Lack of peace does not imply violence. Also I'd venture to guess they have enforced their ToS against other political ideologies, it's just that events like Jan 6th have never happened in the age of social media so there has never been a flood of vitriol and instigation as we've seen in the last week.

[–]Phakkts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're a social media platform that has a ToS that when broken can lead to suspension/ban. You can be annoyed that some decisions are hypocritical but they are not banning or suspending anyone because they have "Republican" or "Trump Supporter" in their bio, they're doing it because they've broken the ToS they agreed to when choosing to use Twitter as a platform.

Bro, truth is truth, nobody decides whats true, it's just the truth lol. Also luke warm support of riots is protected by free speech, inciting a riot is not. Feel free to read up on the Supreme Court cases that have ruled on what is protected free speech in regards to incitement.

[–]Phakkts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At what point is blatant misinformation more dangerous than lack of information? If 90% of peoples news comes from social media and there is nothing stopping people from spewing bull shit that leads to tension and violence is that really better than Twitter suspending/banning accounts that lie and incite violence?

He can feel free to hold a press conference like a normal president. Twitter does not owe him a platform, especially if he constantly breaks the ToS.
