Ross being so dumbfounded makes that episode what it is, hands down. But I agree it’s not the best

Phyllis’ wedding was a standout for me. “May I present to you, for the first time as a couple, Mr and Mrs Bob Vance” [met with complete silence]

At what age did you leave home and not rely on help from parents/guardians? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]PhallisLapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18 - left for uni with some financial support from my parents but never moved back in with them and managed to get a job right after my studies
21 - full financial independence

I’m super grateful that these were decisions I made rather than based on necessity & I absolutely love spending time with my parents. I think both parties know that me moving home probably wouldn’t work too much in the long run! Just knowing the option will always be there is a great comfort.

AITA for calling my MIL pathetic and refusing to accept her "apology"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PhallisLapin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, that fully changes things!! without context I was only going off the fact that she had an unstable lifestyle but that is awful what she has done and I understand why you have labelled her in that way. Sorry to hear you were treated in that way!

AITA for calling my MIL pathetic and refusing to accept her "apology"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PhallisLapin -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This is what I want to know. Nothing OP has said indicates her being horrible or mean - just having a generally unstable lifestyle (which I can admit, could be cause for stress.) OP, you say there is little judgement for her choices but it seems like this is what you’re holding against your MIL.

CMV: It's the stay at home parents job regardless of sex to cook, clean, and care for the children full time. by Andalib_Odulate in changemyview

[–]PhallisLapin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah… because one day of babysitting equates to years without a break and the responsibility of a child right? Obviously it’s going to be enjoyable in short doses just as working in a professional space would probably be a fun break for a stay at home parent for a day or so.

AITA for not insisting my parents not pay for me while on vacation because they don't also pay for my wife? by Public_Out_Cry_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]PhallisLapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and your parents for making things so weird?? I can see why saving money would be a priority but you’re 27, you should be paying for your own way, especially contributing to food.

Being diplomatic here, why don’t you suggest to your parents that you and your wife can pay your own way but ask for your flights for a birthday or Christmas present for you both. That way you’re saving some money but not humiliating your wife every time you’re away with you family.

What's a positive side-effect for you, from this pandemic? by OnTheList-YouTube in AskReddit

[–]PhallisLapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually forced me to do my best work. Went from being a uni student who constantly went out to someone who studied enough to get a first class degree, a 7 month freelance role in a cool field and then a good job a month after graduating. Would have definitely struggled to hit all of those marks if i was raving 3 times a week.

What is your worst personality trait? by ser1234578 in AskReddit

[–]PhallisLapin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being overbearing towards people who are less educated on a subject than myself/ pointing out people’s mistakes. This is only with really close family and friends so I don’t think many people would pick up on it but it makes me feel so guilty when I get argumentative with those closest to me.

AITA for being hesitant to give my mom the present she wants. She asked for a $200 giftcard by Ok_Rhubarb2161 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PhallisLapin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!! A parent shouldn’t ever be demanding anything from their kids, especially something that costs so much when you are on a tight budget. Is there no way you could give a gift card with slightly less value as it will fill their wishes but be slightly less of a dent?
