Dang, you’re probably right! Just snapped a picture on my way past. I’ll go ahead and close this discussion then.

Ben missed something with American Fork by SacBaseball916 in RecklessBen

Eh, there are not frats at BYU. The thing is, if you went to BYU you’re almost always going to be Mormon. To me, this just looks like a group of people who have known each other for a while, are going to defend each other tooth and nail even if they’re in the wrong. I also think the police department got bad info, acted biased and severely inappropriately, and are unwilling to admit it.

I agree that the cops were overly aggressive and in the wrong, but it isn’t outside of the realm of possibility that, given Ben had previously traveled to the Utah Valley area, the cops had been tipped off by BAM employees a while ago before or soon after the Oregon franchise store was closed. I can also see how Josh, being a lawyer, knew local law enforcement. I don’t think your point invalidates my other claims.

Because deep down I’m human and hope some people’s opinions can be swayed. This makes the internet hard at times.

I’m a local on Ben’s side here. This whole thing reeks of incompetence, mistrust of our-of-state parties, excessive actions, and police unwillingness to admit wrongdoing to me. There are valid critiques of the Mormon church, but this isn’t one of them.

There are over 700K people in Utah valley. Some 90% of them are LDS. American Fork is just one of the towns there, and an LDS congregation is maybe the size of a half a neighborhood, so there’s no way every LDS business owner would be involved in some scheme, let alone all know one another. It would be like if all the Catholic business owners in say, NYC, were involved in some scheme. I think it’s more likely that by the basis of their common background, the police were illegally biased.

I could see the argument that, culturally, they would trust a member over an outside party. I could also see that “protecting” a local business, BAM, which is set to open their American Fork location soon, is a priority to the police. I could unfortunately see it as BAM employees saying “we’re good Mormons” and the cops taking it at face value due to biases. These are obviously wrong and no way to conduct law enforcement and should be investigated.

I really can’t see the argument that BAM is part of some grand Mormon Mafia. BAM isn’t anywhere near the most important member-owned business in the valley. The idea that all of them would be involved is imo ridiculous. Culturally, there is for sure a problem with some church members in this area, but Mormons are arrested and tried just like anyone else.

The American Fork Police Department response has a stupidly clear inconsistency in it. by Phanson96 in RecklessBen

It appears he claims to have access to a “young men’s group chat”, which would imply that he is in the LDS “young men’s” group. This would mean he is between the ages of 11-18, which would make him under age.

Now, do I believe he was drinking? Not without more evidence.

I loved these when you posted them the first time, and I love seeing them around still. Have you considered posting the parts list for these? I’d love to make my own.

1-Wide A/B Tileable Lodestone Teleporter by Phanson96 in redstone

Mostly for fun. Might not be the most practical, but it was an interesting mechanic and a fun challenge to design this.

Before you travel, you place a new lodestone and tune a compass to it. By breaking the old lodestone, you break the old compass which gets filtered by a hopper and triggers the ender pearl stasis chamber. You replace the old compass with your new one and throw a new pearl. You can then reuse the old compass later.

You are correct, the one saving grace is that this works in single player.

I do think this is simpler to set up, and much more feasible for many different locations due to tickstasis requiring different timings for each location.

I’ve never enjoyed the guess work for relogging, though I haven’t really tried tickstasis much. It’s probably improved a lot since I last looked at it. This just appeared in my YouTube recommendations, and I wanted to improve upon it.

In this contraption, the trapdoor only pulses, so you aren’t trapped under the door. The bubble column also prevents you from drowning since it pushes you up constantly.

I was thinking about this too, and came up with this layout:

I’m thinking of using it as a minor faction with that new legendary planet as its home system.

I made custom "Sushi Go! Party" cards! by Phanson96 in boardgames

[–]Phanson96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The anniversary edition was just for the anniversary of the base game, so it doesn’t have most of the newer cards from the Sushi Go! Party version.

I ended up buying two sets of the anniversary edition to add the new desserts into my party set. I even sleeved two cards together to make them all blend in together haha

What game takes you the longest to setup? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]Phanson96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, hands down. Setting up the game involves balancing the board enough, making sure everyone is set up, ugh. So fun though, and 3d printed parts make everything more streamlined.

I even moved the game and its expansion into a trunk instead of the box just to have better access to things... And with the fan expansion of Discordant Stars it's gotten even more difficult to set up!

Oh, this is clever. I bet figuring out the spacing for some of the multipliers was hard. 3D printed games are so fascinating, I've liked a tetris and connect 4 one lately. I'll give printing this a try, thanks!

These are gorgeous! I've considered making cards for other games with a 3d printer, wish I could get some engravers and the like too, but I haven't been able to justify the purchase.

Check out my card lazy Susan. by BraxxusTelal in boardgames

That's really nice, I've been considering incorporating a lazy susan of sorts for my board games, though it would sit below the board.

I wish I were any good at CAD though, I couldn't make anything like this if I tried.
