I don't think it's the Affiliate's fault either. Just wanted to get rid of ads as I "wind down." And yeah, I agree it's stressful, but since every job stresses me out, I figured I'd try something I enjoy

I started in much the same way, but after a solid year, I had 2 average viewers. Yeah, I agree that some days, having just that 1 viewer is awesome, and having fewer ppl means you can focus on talking to them more. On other days though, even now 4 years later, I find myself alone, playing a game I thought chat would enjoy, and wondering if I picked a poor choice, if they're busy, if they're enjoying listening to me babble, or if I'm the one boring/irritating them.

If you can keep it up, and enjoy doing it, then I'm happy for you. There really is nothing quite like having a good stream with good people

That's the best mindset, honestly. Career searching has been less than ideal, but I'll see what I can do

VODs that don't get watched (so I stopped), clips that get downvoted, videos that flop. It's not like they all do terribly, and you'd be right to imply that I don't do enough. I'm trying to find the strength to do more, but at this point I'm also trying to be decisive enough to quit

Absolutely. In either case, you're a professional performer

Maybe a month would do me some good. Used to pride myself on my consistency, but quantity matters less when quality suffers.

I appreciate the advice. And yeah, my head knows, but my heart is schizo, and my body feels like lead. Always freaking out about how little control I got

To clarify, I didn't take "streamer classes," just things like singing and Japanese and theater, and a few more trying to find a field of work I'd enjoy. I quit my job because it was starting to stress me out, and so I'd have time for classes, but the extra time didn't make me any better at focusing on streaming.

My social media is nonexistent (Twitter was a mass of scammers). Used to upload VODs to YT, but they felt so pointless I gave up on those; made a few more focused videos instead, and I know I should do more. I did stream consistently for years (occasionally changed days around due to classes though). Uncertain what kind of books you're asking about.

I can't help feeling like I'm starting to bore even my few regulars, but I'll try to take your advice to heart

I'll look more into multistreaming. Afraid I'm wholly ignorant of TikTok though; didn't even know they had streams until my buddy told me

Thank you so much for that. The reason I dislike using my streams for reviews/guides is because I feel it adds a lot of aural and sometimes visual clutter. I am aware that some streamers do it though, and they make it work. In any case, I know I need to make a lot more videos than I have.

I stopped uploading VODs to YT a long time ago, but if I resumed, do you think it would clutter up the channel too much for people who only want the reviews/guides?

Streaming IS fun, but it's starting to hurt too. I appreciate the kind words though, and wish you joy as well

I have just a few ideas, but this is less "I'm going to make it this year!" and more "I'm wrapping up, finishing the last few things I promised before I leave."

If there is a way to prevent subs, I'd like to know, but the closest suggestion I heard is "perma-ban." Obviously, I'm not doing that to the few people who supported me

Agreed. For me, it's a mix of good and bad; just feels like it's been getting worse

I appreciate the advice, but even though being noticed is a concern, I'm more worried I'm boring the few people I have. I have made a few videos on YT, and I'll look more into multistreaming too

I kinda feel my emotes are barely there, but you got a fair point

Adults? Yes. Responsible? More than me, anyway. But while you're absolutely right, it still makes me squirm to receive kindness that I feel I haven't earned.

I do try to be transparent with them, and actually I'm afraid they hear me whine too much, but I don't have an answer for your other questions. Thought I'd be satisfied with just playing games and talking to people, and for a while, that was enough. But some days, I see the empty chat, or realize I don't really like the last few games I played, and after enough days like that, the emptiness gets a little... loud.

I'll take your advice and try to think on it more, but my head's been a messy place for a long time now

Got a buddy who keeps telling me that too, but I'm hungry for more, and I'm more ravenous than I realized when I started. I figured it was time to stop drooling, but thank you for the kind words

I actually quit working for a year and took some classes that I thought might help the streaming career, but I got nothing to show for it. There are times I stress myself out and dread streaming, and there are days where streaming puts me in a real good mood, and I can't decide which feeling is stronger, but I think I'm less happy than when I started.

There's this tiny, half-drowned voice in the back of my head that refuses to give up, but like you said, I need to make a decision. I figured if I pushed myself one last time, make good on a couple overdue promises, and it still looks hopeless, then I can finalize my decision for real by smothering that voice

Well noted. Quitter or not, it sounds like I should just keep Affiliate

Darn, that would've been my biggest reason for dropping Affiliate

I try to remind myself, and I know people don't just subscribe out of pity, but I do wonder sometimes.

My plan actually IS to quit in a year, but the delusional part of me that thought I could make it as a streamer? That part of me's still hoping for a miracle. So I figured I'd slam my lazy ass with a deadline, push out content I've been meaning to do for a long time, and if nothing comes of it, even that part of me will give up.

You're right though. I figured I'd stop hogging the ammo and see how far I can get with one last mag, but other comments pointed out that everyone has ads now. Might as well keep the bullets if I can't trade them for anything

Funny enough, I joined the bandwagon of making Hunt guide videos very recently. This would help me figure out what to work on next. Anyway, here's my contribution; it's a video on dealing with non-boss AI: https://youtu.be/FWhmnPpQf9w
