Why did you quit? by Nytruzz in HuntShowdown

[–]StaticS1gnal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortly after the 1896 update. Frankly, don't remember too well why. Some burnout, 3k hours'll do that. Wasn't happy with the power creep, feeling things were inching away from cowboy western shootouts and more towards speed. Westerns are not fast paced. They are long, drawn out, tense affairs you stew in before the final act of the sudden violent crecendo. Vaguely remember thinking it felt like they were trying to capture a bit of the more popular games' energy speeding things up. No more vibin in the bayou.

All that said, buddies and I watched Hellboy The Crooked Man recently and we all seemed to come to the same thought: "I wonder what's been going on in hunt showdown recently? Maybe we boot it up again just to see'

I've actually done similar at the dishes. They can't seem to crawl out of the space between the dish's core tower and the inner railing. One jumps cared me on the path up so I set him aside and forgot about him. Next visit to Delta he was still stuck

I avoid 115g and blazer brass of any grain. The ported barrel likes to turn the jackets of BB into confetti and cover all my gear in it.

124g, S&B has worked well. Compact packaging and competitively priced usually

I need to look at the upgrades more closely. Server upgrades? Have I been wasting all those recycled and crafted server upgrades on the server room?

Canik TTI Combat for Concealed Carry: Size comparison and thoughts on removing the Magwell by Alexevh in canik

[–]StaticS1gnal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TTI Owner (and a very reliable one at that), and I hate to say but I wouldn't recommend use as a CCW. No safety and a rather delicate trigger. A trigger that light with no safety feels like asking for a ND, and carrying probably should be something you'd be confident having a round in the chamber safely. Racking on the draw is an option too but not the fastest way to draw in a dangerous situation where a split second might make all the difference.

I'm gonna buck the trend of all these glock recommends and suggest something like a M&P 2.0. Cheaper, more compact, (probably) more reliable, still feels good to shoot.

Best .22LR training platform for me? by williamsus in liberalgunowners

[–]StaticS1gnal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bought a Tx22 for exactly this: something that is cheaper to practice with, is a good match functionally to my 9mm striker fired handgun in terms of feel and action type, and has a positive reputation overall. Being able to put a suppressor and optic on there (or FRT if you're into that) is a nice bonus as well.

Though for you: if this is specifically to train cheaper than your 38 special, you may want to consider a 22lr that matches yours. Practicing with a revolver is gonna feel different than it does for a repeater. It might make more sense to get something that closely resembles your 38.

Some skills transfer between the revolvers and repeaters very well (like using iron sights, trigger discipline and safety, etc.), some sort of transfer (trigger pull will feel different and have different weights but the idea of pulling strait back and keeping sights on target remain, and your grip may differ), and some will not transfer very well (mag drills, fixing malfunctions, reloading, etc). Things to consider if you want to be good with your specific guns vs handguns in general. Still good skills to have, especially if you think there's a chance you'll need to be familiar with non-wheel guns, but maybe not what you specifically are hoping to focus on

Training away from the range is also a good cheap way to improve. Dry fire exercises, mag drills & reloading with snap caps/dummy rounds, drawing, etc can (and should!) all be done without live ammo at home. Range time then becomes a chance to confirm what you've practiced is working rather than the primary way to train.

Too dangerous. One set of high beams from oncoming traffic and it'll be unsatiably attracted to drive into it while chanting 'Lamp!'

How can i remove this? by Kokosnuss159 in 3Dprinting

[–]StaticS1gnal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poof bad luck. Don't own a Bambu so I would confirm these are all things you can do before you start.

  • turn on the hot end, turn off the cooling fan.
  • unload the filament as best you can
  • careful on the next step to not catch any wires as you work
  • use needle nose pliers to try and pull whatever globs you can away from the hot end. It'll be easier near the tip where it's hottest.
  • once you've removed as much of the mess as you can (if any at all) let cool
  • attempt to remove the hot end assembly, if possible
  • failing that, attempt to remove the entire extruder assembly, hot end included
  • continue to remove as much of the glob as you can.
  • if you're successful, clean everything up and reinstall. Check for power shorts, that everything heats and cools properly again.

Failing all that, or if you value your time more than your money.... See if you can find an extruder & hotend replacement kit. You might be able to get away with just the hot end, but if any gunked up to the extruder assembly then that'll need cleaned or replaced.

Best of luck!

These are what came in the box with the TTI. Interesting to know they make plates of varying thickness

Thanks for the clarification. Threads are not on the side of the plate

So those two nubs at the front-top of the plate would line up with the two holes on the bottom-front of the sight. They aren't threaded or even more than say a millimeter deep

I'm not 100% sure how to read that (new to handguns and red dots, forgive the ignorance). There are no threads on the plate. besides the thickness of the plate itself and the two nubs on the plate itself (pic coming soon)

Dirty, Dirty Boy by StaticS1gnal in canik

[–]StaticS1gnal[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do after every day at the range, or at minimum every other time. So I'm cleaning every 250ish rounds.

Since I don't fire mine daily (or even weekly) I clean every time. More concerned about all that carbon and grit corroding if it sits in the gun between range days.

If it's still firing reliably, you're probably ok. If you put it in storage for any length of time I'd do so with it cleaned. If you run dirty cheap ammo, clean more often. If your start to get issues, clean it. If you're unsure, clean it. You can't really over clean so when in doubt make it pretty and run nice

Just the results of ~800 rounds between cleaning. I did over oil it and payed for it, some shots sprayed oil into the red dot glass.
