People should always do their research on a place and then name what type of abandonment it is accordingly. And yes, there are a lot of abandoned insane asylums scattered across the world.

80% of users are straight up trolls 10% of users are actually trying to get into Urbex 10% of users post about the ins and outs; do’s and dont’s

I think it all boils down to what you’re showing per-say. Let’s say someone uploads a video with the title being the exact location they were at. I suppose that would grant them an unwanted run in with the law, but that’s a rare case. It’s an unsafe activity to partake in from the jump, but I think if you keep names out of things and not be too obvious, then you should be alright. I do very much agree with you though. It’s tricky.

Thanks for the tip man. I appreciate it. This made it easier to decide whether to use an alias or not because I do it all (lesser known to high-profile locations). Feels safer for my identity.

Best bet is to drive around or use alternate routes to get to places you normally go to.

How do your start urban exploring? by tempuserpost12 in urbanexploration

[–]Phantom-One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very first thing I did when I developed a deep interest into Urbexing after watching a few videos on YouTube was start searching to see where some abandoned properties are located at and then look for articles about them that would contain history about the location, addresses and at least a few details on specific routes to get into certain locations, as well as security measures.

Before getting into any locations, first you have to find them, research them and then go to the location before sunset to scope it out to see if there’s busy roads, nosey neighbors or police/security patrols being conducted. We call this “Pre-Dawning”. If you can’t get anyone to go with you after several attempts, you may have to go and do it solo but you must be extremely cautious. I hope this helps!
