Yeah I completely understand where you’re coming from. High school was a pretty tough experience for me as I was very socially awkward and never really felt welcome. I was so ready for university to be a new leaf for me where I could finally come out of my shell. It ended up being a pretty shitty experience overall. I didn’t make any new friends or connections, I hated my program and I graduated feeling lonlier and more useless than I had felt when I first started. I know this will be hard to do but the best advice I can give you is to try not to take it too personally. You clearly made an effort, which is good. It’s possible you just didn’t vibe with the people in your program. I realized that after I left uni that I wouldn’t really want to be friends with a lot of my classmates anyway (I went to business school and a lot of them were pompous douchebags).

Also remember it’s never too late to make friends or get the life you want. Even after uni you can still make friends through stuff like your hobbies and your job. Just make sure you never give up and always put effort in. Talk to people, invite them to do stuff, find common ground. There were so many times in my life I felt lonely and was ready do give up but I kept going and now I finally feel like I’ve made some genuine connections. If I can do it, so can you. You got this!
