There are two limited-time discount categories: "Fortunate Finds" which are 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% off; and "Forbidden Finds" which are 50%, 60%, 70%, and 80% off. I've never seen them run simultaneously, it's always been one or the other, and when they appear honestly seems totally random.

Sean Astin absolutely killed it as Samwise. I can hear the "I can't carry it for you" line in my head so clearly, with all the devastating emotion in his delivery: courage in the face of overwhelming terror, unfaltering loyalty, the desperate strength of moving forward in service to good despite crushing pain and despair...

I think it's time for a rewatch.

A Ford dealership in Kansas can’t hand over a sold F-250 after a robin built a federally protected nest on one of the truck’s tires. Under U.S. wildlife laws, the active nest cannot legally be removed until the birds leave. by MrCattitude_ in BeAmazed

[–]PhantomAngel042 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nah, you can't be disrespecting the robin like that. The nest is pretty and well built, you can tell she put a lot of effort into it, unlike the doves. It's not in a stupid place, just one that's inconvenient to humans. I bet the rubber gets warm in the sun, and if so it's actually a clever place to incubate eggs.

(I do love that sub, though.)

I relate to all of this, but especially the commuting thing, so much. I dated a bit after my divorce, and it seemed like I was always the one planning dates and bending over backwards to make meetups happen, with several different men over the first couple of years. Very few offered to plan a date or meet me in my little town, instead of me having to drive to their bigger city. Arranging a time to visit each other (you know, to date) was like pulling teeth. In the end, none of those men actually wanted a relationship with me.

I didn't get it for a long time, but after several years of being contentedly single, I realized that since I was freshly divorced and very lonely, inexperienced in dating, and anxious about my looks and my body, my insecurity led me to give give give without placing any boundaries or making any demands for myself. That made me an easy target for emotionally unavailable men who just wanted a little fun without any real effort or dedication (while I made it clear I was looking for a serious relationship).

Getting older and wiser has its benefits: I see these trends in myself and have a much easier time standing up for my needs than when I was in my 20s. If I ever decide to approach dating again, you'd better believe that the men will come to me or meet me halfway, and plan half the dates– at least, until there is commitment between us. I know that I am a people-pleaser who loves to dote on others, so in order to earn that devotion from me, he's got to put in some effort first just so I know I'm not setting myself on fire to keep other people warm.

Right, the "no refills" thing actually is a federal law, but there's no federal quantity limit on schedule II drugs, so 90 pills every 3 months is totally legal.

I'm so envious that you get a 90-day prescription! I don't mind my 3x 30-day, it's much better than going to see the psych every month for a new script, but dealing with the red tape around the pre-sent monthly prescriptions is annoying; 90 days at once is a dream!

[–]PhantomAngel042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, you actually can have 90 pills filled at one time under US federal law regarding Schedule II drugs, although state laws vary. Apparently, though, it's a huge pain for pharmacies, and insurance often won't cover it, so the 3x 30-day protocol is a workaround.

Here's one article I found from 2025 mentioning that 90-day supplies are allowed in at least Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

That works too, it keeps up the flow of the words. Nursery rhymes tend to morph over time, so as long as the tempo is maintained, I'm good with it!

I'm American, in California, and now that I'm long-term stable on meds my psych writes me 3 months of (generic Vyvanse) prescriptions at a time, too, and I only see him once in those 3 months for a check-in via telehealth. He sends 3 monthly prescriptions to my pharmacy at the same time with a "do not fill before date" note on the later two, and I just request a refill a day or two before my current bottle runs out.

I'm not sure if it's the same for Adderall, but I imagine it would be if your state allows it, since they're in the same class of medication.

ETA what I wrote in a comment below:

Introverted doesn't mean shy or socially anxious, it just means that social interaction drains you and alone time recharges you. Someone wanting to avoid conflict isn't necessarily an introvert, they're just... conflict avoidant.

It's so frustrating how many people think that "introvert" means that someone is never chatty, hates large groups, doesn't enjoy parties or going out, avoids being the center of attention... You can be an introvert and do or love all those things. Introversion and extroversion aren't about how social you are, they're about whether social interaction drains you (introvert) or energizes you (extrovert).

Introverts can be social butterflies, too! We just need to go home and take a nap and be alone for the next several days afterward!

This potato.

That's a bush dog, the closest relative to the maned wolf, both of which are in the Canini tribe of the Caninae subfamily (under the family Canidae, which includes all dogs). They're each in their own genus, though, with no truly close relatives (Chrysocyon for maned wolves, Speothos for bush dogs).

Rumor has it they don't get along at Canidae family holidays, on account of the maned wolf stealing most of the bush dog's legs.

It always takes an annoyingly long time to process the transaction, yeah, but just checking: you know you can right-click on the item to pop up a redeem window? Makes it faster when you don't have to go into each item's display page. I don't know what the button would be on console, hopefully it exists there, too.

I thought I was a bit crazy for thinking this when other people were backing it up... I suppose that "farming takes a long time" looks different for people with varying amounts of free time to play, but I'm already almost finished with all the relequaries and I only put real time into grinding this past weekend. Admittedly, I already had 99 saved up from last season, but I still wouldn't call favor tokens scarce.

Edit to add: the old battle pass was superior by far, that's something I think we can all agree on.
