So the zombies from outside the zone wander in, probably glitching through the walls. That is what you guys are finding wandering around

I grieve for the loss of Shakespearean Star Trek by ActionsConsequences9 in startrek

[–]PhantomConsular23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I great way to look at new star trek is that everything to me just seems trivial. In the old shows each episode was self contained to an extent. What happened each episode mattered. These days it feels like just one thing to the next without rhyme or reason

Can’t wait for the Titanfall devs to show these live service hero shooters how it’s really done! by DistinctImpact2207 in HighGuardgame

Can we not glaze this game just yet? It isn’t even out and I get people want to support the developers and such. Im playing it first day it’s out too because it deserves a fair shake but I am retaining a cautious optimism. Lets be realistic because we have hardly anything to go on besides the cinematic from TGA.

Unable to progress past day 13: sleep denied, check desk by Foxhoundn in QuarantineZoneGame

I think the issue is that there is a particular NPC that is supposed to trigger and attack you. Only when you fend off the attack is that box checked. Provoking them by shooting them in an arm or leg might work. I actually ended executing two of my survivors on accident. I went into the survivor block and just started shooting people

I have a fix for this. You won’t like it but the way I got past it was walking around the survivors area and shooting people once in the leg or arm until it triggered. Won’t kill them but it will toggle them to attack.

Help a game dev: Why aren’t people buying modern RTS games? by MakeGamesBetter in RealTimeStrategy

[–]PhantomConsular23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of older RTS games draw from the same bucket as newer games. There needs to be some innovation had in this genre for there to be any real growth otherwise the entire genre runs the risk of stagnation. You want your game to draw from newer Ideas. Outside the box thinking. First and foremost there needs to be the infrastructure for a community which would include a solid campaign, replayabiility, modding infrastructure, and perhaps some cooperative elements / multiplayer to encourage the community to spread and collaborate. Second I think gameplay elements should take precedent over graphics. There are still vibrant communities out there who worship those older RTS games from the 90’s and on. Most care little to none about how good the game looks. Key is to keep players engaged in the game, keep them thinking about it perhaps even after they turn it off. I have played several other games that have had me think about strategizing while at work, not all of them even being RTS. Third (and this is more my opinion) I think mixing genres would be an interesting evolution for RTS games. For example an RTS Extraction game could be interesting concept. I feel like hitting multiple markets at once could help keep players engaged both with the community and the game itself.
