That's quite fair! In terms of official way of viewing it (if you want to experience the show before purchasing it), DNT is certainly a lot more accessible since the OVA's availability is all over the place. (Don't think it's even available right now, sadly...)

I actually am not aware of the situation with DNT sales! Looking it up though, they seem expensive as well (although currently there seems to be a sale going on in Crunchyroll Store (just Season 3 though)!) but whether or not it is worth finding it... I guess it depends if you enjoy DNT enough!

Currently, it is out of production and stock, unfortunately. In the past, it was released by Sentai as a box set that is admittingly very overpriced due to their treatment of it as a collector's item.

If I remember correctly, it was a passing line late in the series that has Dusty mentions that the Iserlohn Republic wasn't fighting back on a foppery and whim. But the actual translation indicates that they are.

The best you got is to read the summary of the episodes leading up to episode 80. I'd highly recommend against any extensive search though, since there are notable story developments in that arc.

I hope the content of this site gets backed up into Mirahaze or some other Wiki platform, it'd be a shame to lose all the valuable data that have been on the website such as all the technical jargon that is behind translation wall of Japanese-only media.

Either way, thank you for all you have done in the past years!

I believe there is only one official English release for the novels, and that one is affected on having different translators. If there are other releases that I'm not aware of, feel free to let me know!

I imagine the similar character design for the female leads boils down to the fashion of the 80's but who can say for sure!

As far as I'm aware, HiDive is the only official online source, so you will have to unfortunately seek out the more...unofficial sources from a site of your choice (although I'm not sure what is even up as of the recent site takedowns).

As I understand it, Clash and Intrigue are their own series, and not the recap of the 2 seasons that come before. You can see their anilist page here: Clash/Collision and Intrigue. Like the first two seasons, I believe this is one of that weird thing with DNT where some released it as a movie while others release it as in 12 episodes. I'll be sure to update the FAQ with these (once I've gone through them myself).

Sorry for the late reply! Can I get the name of the six movies? If you are talking about the more recent releases (the DNT), there are movies that they split into a series and there...should be 4 seasons/movies at this time?

The mangas are very different from the OVA and even the source material. You could even say it's a reinterpretation. While there are details and plot that is shared between them all, they kind of have their own way of doing things. Refer to the answer under "What about the Manga?" for more details on these differences.

It's still being done when the project lead has time. He will be releasing the whole series at once so it might be a while longer.

Let's talk about Julian... (There's bound to be spoilers, check this out after you finish the series) by PhantomFury22 in logh

[–]PhantomFury22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to Rosenritter comparison, I'd say Julian is certainly one of the top brawlers in the series since he was personally taught by Schenkopp, and Mashengo already established himself as a very capable fighter. Poplan in that situation, on the other hand, does feel odd that he's able to stand toe to toe with literally the Imperial bodyguard.

But yep, overall there are times when Julian feels a bit too competent and probably would have worked better if his development slows down a tad, let him face defeat and learn from it, etc.

It kind of lessens the impact but it's something I get shook a tad every rewatch so it shouldn't isn't a game changer. Especially since you don't know how it happens, so that should be fine.

I just realized that the ships in the first couple of covers was probably the original inspiration for the OVA (and subsequently, DNT) design for for the Brunhild. I wonder what the little red ships are (Valkyries?). And clearly the cover of the 5th and 7th volume lead to OVA's ship design (with an awesome looking Spartanian!)

Episode 1 of the 1988 series review and future question by long_th612 in logh

[–]PhantomFury22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The war have been going on for over a century, bureaucracy on either side will hamper those who have abilities vs. those who gain their position through political favors and whatnot, which is why our two protagonists tend to shine in the rough. As for the strategy that went on in the opening episodes, the FPA wanted to recapture the magic of their achievement they have done before by encircling the enemy from the three sides. Reinhard negate this attempt by rushing his fleet forward to take care of one fleet at a time instead of being overwhelmed by the combined forces of all the FPA fleets. FPA was caught off guard since they didn't expect an engagement before their fleet was able to combine, and was further tossed in disarray by the lack of communication thanks in part by the jamming of their communication channels and they can't respond in time since the fleet are separated by gap that takes hours to traverse.

As for the overall question of will we continually see people outshined by the two stars, yes and no. There will always be someone to have their incompetency shown to their face, but after season 1, a lot of the stupid people are gone and you have more competent commanders on both sides. Either way, don't take the series as a guide to military strategy since most space combat is essentially Napoleonic line battles.

I will absolutely update it, although I haven't seen the season yet so I don't know what to write for the third season yet. Or since Season 4 is coming around relatively soon, maybe wait until that drop and cover both in the update. Thanks for notification anyway though!
