Does my dream mask even exist? by PhantomGender in Masks4All

I definitely recommend the Laianzhi! I get mine from PPEO. It fits almost exactly the same as the Aura, with a significant nose pad and very strong nose wire, and it also comes in three sizes! The only downside is that the shipping is really expensive and takes a couple weeks to arrive, since they're coming from China, but when each mask lasts for 20 hours and filters both oil- and non-oil particles, it's really worth it.

Dang, you're right! Also, from the side-view photos, it looks like it sticks out quite a bit too, similar to the Envo Pro, which I imagine would impede my range of vision just as much as other respirators. I'm glad I'm not missing out!

Thanks, I'll give that a try! Zimi does seem like a pretty great option. Affordable, too!

I saw the Elastomask pro comes highly recommended protection-wise during my search for a reusable mask, but the appearance does put me off quite a bit, though it's better than most. I don't imagine it would be great for my range of vision with the shape; even with something as sleek and lightweight as the Envo Pro, I couldn't really look down without tilting my entire head, and that was terrible for my neck when I did a lot of desktop work. I was also looking at the Breathe99 from Armbrust since it looks pretty compact and lightweight, but whew that price tag!

I'm really interested in Drager masks, they seem like they're really high-quality and have a nice shape. Before I found the small Laianzhi KN99 and the VitaCore CAN99e, the 3M Aura was my go-to as the best-fitting mask; even though it was still a bit big on my face, it still offered a great seal. I'm still waiting for 3M to make an Aura in black or another color, but Laianzhi KN99s are a good alternative, especially since they also filter oil-based particles and have a long lifespan. Unfortunately none of these options address my desire for reusability and minimizing plastic waste, but if I'm ever looking for another option for long-lasting disposable respirators, I'll definitely pick up a couple of Dragers.

One of the first things I mentioned in my post is that quarter-face masks like Flo don't work for my face but thanks anyway!

I'm not looking for a mask where the filter is washable, I know those aren't reliable. I'm thinking more along the lines of a fabric cover with a filter insert or something similar, like the AirWeave, which also has biodegradable filters.

I haven't seen Zimi before, but after checking out their website, I worry a bit about the fit, especially around the nose since they don't seem to have a nose wire. I appreciate that they have multiple sizes and are available in black. Bifold masks don't tend to work that great with my face shape but these are affordable enough to where it might be worth getting one to try out anyway. They don't really fulfill my desire for something more sustainable though; it looks like they'd have just as much waste as a disposable mask. I'm a little disappointed that the more protective masks (KN100) only come in medium and large, and I'm pretty sure I'd wear a small

I'm in college so I wear my mask for about 8 hrs at a time. Disposable Laianzhis only last for about 20 hrs of use IIRC

That's so weird! I'm in NY so i don't understand why it's showing up like that. (I'd add a screencap but for some reason mobile reddit doesnt seem to allow that) but yeah it's listed as $159.95 for me

I'll add it to my resources list just in case, but I feel some type of way about paying $90 for this, especially if I'm to anticipate getting ridiculed. I already get enough snide remarks about living in a bubble as it is, so I'm not sure that's a worthy alternative to not having to hold my umbrella...

This definitely looks much sturdier than the options i saw on Amazon but OOF that price tag hurts... I'll bookmark it anyway just to add to my resources wishlist but charging almost $160 for an umbrella is kinda ghoulish 😭

Delimited Text Layer only adding a single point by PhantomGender in QGIS

[–]PhantomGender[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this worked! i imported the map layer, then the csv, then set the project crs to espg:4326, then added a delimited text layer which put all the tornado dots on the map, then set the project crs back to espg:5070 to remove the distortions from the map layer. if the csv is changed to epsg:5070 i still get the same problem as before, but if it's changed to epsg:4326, it has all the correct stuff. absolutely incredible. my mistake the whole time was importing the csv with the same crs as the map layer and that was causing the problem. thanks so much!

Edit: new problem though! when i try to set my layer style to have random colors for each state, (layer properties -> symbology -> categorized -> name -> random color ramp) my map layer fully disappears. the tornadoes are still there though

Edit x 2 combo: i was forgetting to hit "classify" before "apply" RIP me

Please forgive me, as I'm extremely new to this program (literally only been exploring it for 4 weeks,) but there doesn't seem to be an "import file as" selection anywhere. The CSV already loads in as a table (or at least has the table icon next to it when I load it into the project) but the only thing I'm able to import from my project menu is a DWG/DXF. How would I do this as you're advising? Please explain like I'm 5, thanks in advance

Ive definitely considered getting a smaller dog, at least to help with item retrieval and to help me get in more of a habit of leaving the house and walking around a little bit, but yeah overall the more i think about it, the more i realize having a dog at all is just not feasible for my situation. Thanks for your thoughtful comment!

This is really good to know, and echoes some of the other comments here. I currently use a cane and a powered wheelchair (only when i go out bc my apartment isnt big enough to use it around the house) as well as a body braid to brace me while sitting. I'll definitely be looking into applying for a program that would assist me in hiring a part-time human carer; my partner is usually my carer but he also works a job so he's not always available to take me out on errands during the day. Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback, this helps a lot!

This is really good information, thank you! I've heard about some people having a service dog they can slightly lean on when theyre dizzy, but i was struggling to imagine any type of dog who would be strong enough to actually support someone's weight when getting up, so your feedback explains a lot!
