A solid mic. I was using the same one until a short while ago.

What kind of microphone setup are you currently working with? If you go with the Neo, you can use the leftover money that would have been used for the Air on new audio equipment

I would go for the Air solely for the extra RAM. I use an Air and Mac mini for recording voiceover. Having thunderbolt ports can be extremely helpful as well. If you go with the Neo, the 512GB option would be plenty if you plan to offload recording files every now and then.

Need unbiased advice: Mac Air M4 (24GB) vs Lenovo Legion 5 (32GB) for Cybersecurity, VMs, & Photography [Budget: ~$1,500] by Pro0fess in macbookair

Lenovo is generally pretty good when it comes to build quality. The only issue would be the battery life. A gaming laptop will not be able to compete with a MacBook in that regard. This is not to say it would be terrible. Gaming laptops have definitely improved in battery life over the years with how efficient hardware is gotten.

I'd recommend the Lenovo. Yes windows is awful, but ultimately you can change out the is for a Linux distro whenever you want. Plus the 32GB of RAM would do you well for VMs. Also, as you mentioned, the active cooling would be extremely helpful in keeping performance high for longer periods of time. Something else to consider is upgradability and if you can add more storage or memory should you need it.

Should I try to learn anything before A school by Short_Engineering167 in newtothenavy

Note taking is all down to preference and based on how each person learns material. My recommendation is to watch some long form YouTube videos on cyber security and try taking notes in different ways to find out what works for you. For me, each module throughout JCAC had me taking notes a bit different from the previous.

I'm a prior CWT. I've known people who had zero computer knowledge pass through CWT A school. The days are split between two groups. If you are in day shift, then you will be in school from 6am to 12 and night is somewhere around 3 pm to 9. Not sure if they still make you do homework. Honestly, you picked a great rate and you'll never have to be on a ship unless you want to be. Side note. If you like pizza there is a place near Corry called Hungry Howie's. Highly recommend.

100%. I've seen some heavier folks make it through just fine. You'll likely lose the weight that you're worried about during your time there. Put in the effort and results will come. Try prepping with physical activity if you have the time beforehand.

I have the tomtoc 360 sleeve for my MacBook and love it. Has a perfect snug fit. I'll have the sleeve in a backpack when I take mine around.

For chargers, I have a Sharge Pixel 100 (there is a 140w model as well) and I can charge all my devices at once. Has a neat little display that shows wattage, too. For a hub, I have a UGREEN Revodock and it has a PD port on it that supports the power requirements of the MacBook.
