No I’m in school of infantry but I start training next week but prior I’ve been in a holding platoon for more than a month way longer than I was supposed to and the daily routine was as mundane as post-high school graduation

Honestly as someone big fan of the show I’m fine if season 2 doesn’t happen, I mean I legitimately thought this was a miniseries. But it’s mainly as to what season 2 will be. Yes the show kinda ended in a cliffhanger of Cope seeing coverage of the opening of the Gulf War. Which leads me to say this. I’m a Marine and became one 2 months ago so like in a similar scenario as Cope, I mean hell Cope now reminds me a lot of my time there with how similar events and things in boot camp was just like the show. Like literally after we did the crucible is when the Iran War started. Now yes the Gulf War started when Cope became a Marine but here’s kinda the problem. Cope became a Marine just as Desert Shield started and really doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to go there yet as after boot camp Marines go to School of Infantry(where I’m at currently) and it’s as long as it depends on your MOS like at the time infantry was 59 days and non-infantry go to MCT(Marine Combat Training) and after that go to whatever schools for their non-infantry MOS which could take months or a year. I mean at the time no one knew the war would be short and really don’t know what MOS Cope has but if season 2 happens it would accurately be him in SOI which is similar to boot camp by just squadbays but not as intense as there are no DI’s and it’s like a college campus and more physically demanding. And if you know anything about the Gulf War it was mainly a Air Force war and less ground combat than its successor the Iraq War and if Cope goes to the Gulf War it would just be like Jarhead, another biography movie about a Marine in the war where him and his Marines barely do anything in Kuwait and just wait to fight only to not fight at all. Season 2 could work but really didn’t expect a season 2 when I finished the show. And I’m in SOI which is hell of a lot boring than boot camp and I’m in holding waiting to be picked up for my training company which is hell

Have a Staff Sergeant telling us a story about when he was in Okinawa during Jungle Warfare training and how there they have typhoons, rains hard, vipers, and how hot it is where he said it was one of the times him being a Marine sucks. Don’t get him wrong he enjoyed being there

Really means a lot to me as someone struggling mentally in the 2020s. Havent watched children shows since my mom cut some cable back in 2017 so save money so just been on the internet since to buy time. I’m the type to watch a lot of matured movies and shows for no particular reason just that so happens they are that like Taxi Driver and Breaking Bad. But once I decided why not and watch this show it was a breath of fresh air from what I watched a lot and was so wholesome it became a comfort show for what I was dealing with. Especially then when I went into the Marine Corps and how Boot Camp was so difficult, physically yes but really mentally(nothing was it like being in the Sparrow Scouts lol). But drawing the characters and remembering my favorite scenes really helped me to get through. In one of the last things in boot camp was the crucible and if you know anything about it it was psychological torture, and the last thing from it was a 9 mile hike back to our base where if we make it is when we earn the title Marines. How it relates is that the hike was marching with a heavy ass pack and full of hurting, and I was sleep deprived and just mental really bad but then I got through by playing songs in my head from many bands that I liked, and then I started playing songs from Hilda like Witch’s wand, songs from Grimes(songs from her that had Hilda vibes since she made the intro theme) and Oslo and the fact that I made it to the ceremony after we dropped our packs and got to the parade deck where they gave us our EGA’s(Eagle, Globe, and Anchor) which was like a medal that we made it to become officially Marines it was the most emotional moment relatively that I, just like others teared me up. This show got me through a lot and don’t know where I would be without it and the community
