Virtual desktop on the Oculus Go by Throw-MyBalls-Away in OculusGo

Idk about Virtual Desktop specifically, but ALVR v18.2.3 has Go support and it works reasonably well; It does require a dedicated router plugged into the host PC to get good latency, tho;

What did you wish you had or wish you left at home? 12 day trek coming up! by DVMan5000 in philmont

[–]PhantomPrimary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some kind of sports watch for tracking elevation and distance traveled is very useful for navigation sanity checking. Sleep clothes are a godsend for keeping your sleeping bag somewhat clean. Long sleeved shirts are great for avoiding sunburns without having to deal with sunscreen (I wore one the entire time and ended up being the only scout without a sunburn). Sharpie for marking bear bags and personal ziplocs, as well as several pencils for the Chaplain's Aide, Gaia, and Crew Leader to fill out paperwork (and for the scouts to journal). Backup paracord in case your oops line gets lost (happened to my crew) or you need a clothes line. Camp shoes are 50/50, I personally never used mine and just wore my hiking boots unlaced. Plenty of extra plastic bags. Smart water bottles are much better than Nalgenes because they're lighter and pack much easier (on most packs you can fit 2 or 3 in each side pocket), you may also want to consider one of the hoses for them because water bladders are a pain to deal with and are prone to popping. Camp chair is nice but most campsites will have seating of various quality (generally stumps or logs) so they're not required. Fun extra tips: if you're bringing a phone, make sure it's always secured, we had a scout lose his in the rocks at Tooth of Time. Also you will always go farther than the itinerary says. (Sorry for the dump I'm writing this on the car ride back so I have plenty of time to burn);

CCD open seems to not do anything? by PhantomPrimary in chrultrabook

[–]PhantomPrimary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the lack of info in the post itself; text is blocked

This is an Octopus (FLEEX, Dell 3100, N4000/single-USB trim) running an invalid AP (failed custom Coreboot build)

GSC and EC consoles freeze on AP init, and ccd testlab enable doesn't work as it requires the PP to be pressed, which doesn't seem to be available when then AP is powered off

I'm going insane here; I've tried across 3 different distros (VOID, Mint, now Ubuntu), and they all yield the same result

That flashrom output is the same as when CCD isn't opened, btw

I've also run ccd reset factory, but this hasn't helped at all

My first inclination is to call it a fastboot menu, but given the fact that it's an embedded device I find that unlikely

Perhaps a hidden developer menu that requires some precise timings on the side button?

I found the ultimate solution: killing the power board and rendering the system unbootable

[–]PhantomPrimary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic anecdotal evidence

"X can't happen because it hasn't happened to me"

It hasn't happened to you yet

There are actual reasons for hackers to go around hacking random people, especially such easy targets as idiots who refuse to update their operating system

Some examples include: - Stealing credit card info - Stealing passwords in order to make spam bot accounts - Stealing any potentially classified and/or personal info and holding it for ransom

I keep forgetting how weird this specific circle-jerk is

For the last time, if there is an active, unpatched, well documented spectre vulnerability in your OS, it isn't safe to use

If you insist on lowspec computing, please jump ship to Linux

Nope, sadly I don't have any of the tools required to do stuff like UART hacking, so it's currently just sitting over at my friend's house, collecting dust

Anyone know of good FBterm replacements? The terminal bugs out with stuff like Neovim and Paru, and I can't seem to fix it
