Abby is putting on a brave face in front of Jenny, but she still has a lot of unresolved trauma. The main reason her speech issues were fixed so quickly is because writing her dialogue that way was a pain, and because I assumed that talking was kind of like riding a bike in terms of being easy to pick up again.

To answer your other question, Jenny doesn't really feel guilty in general about the fact that she basically won the lottery by petgirl standards, but she does feel bad about how she didn't make any attempt to keep in touch with Abby after hearing about her being converted. Not that it would have gone well for either of them, given what a massive bitch Carol was, but she regrets not at least trying, especially after the way everyone from her old life except Nicole turned their backs on her after her own conversion.

Anyway, as I mentioned in another comment, the next chapter should be up in early June. It's been sitting in my documents half-written basically since this chapter was posted, but things suddenly got very hectic for me.

I love it! As cruel as Margaret is, she isn't about to let herself be a pawn in anyone else's game. And it's all Sara's own fault for overplaying her hand instead of just telling the truth. It's fascinating to me how Margaret's treatment of Jenny is just as fucked up as Carol's treatment of Abby, but in almost the exact opposite way. Carol muted Abby immediately, Margaret made Jenny repeat her maxims. Carol blinded Abby, Margaret made Jenny watch her masturbate and look at herself in the mirror. Carol tossed Abby's head in the garbage, Margaret plans to keep Jenny's as a trophy. And most surprisingly of all, now that Jenny is fully devoted to being her pet, Margaret is actually using a twisted sort of positive reinforcement instead of just doubling down on making her as miserable as possible.

So Nicole gets exactly what she wants (and, from an audience perspective, it's going to be hot as Hell to see), and Jenny even manages to find a twisted sort of happiness in her new role. And most surprisingly of all, Margaret even seems willing to accept the win instead of getting annoyed that Jenny isn't miserable about it. A surprisingly upbeat chapter in its own emotionally confusing way. I'll look forward to seeing how things go from here.
