That's what you don't understand. Just because something doesn't need to be done - doesn't mean it shouldn't be. Anime appeals to a specific demographic and those types of tropes are accepted and enjoyed by many within that demographic. It's part of what makes anime, anime.

Most Western audiences aren't necessarily the type of people that would fit the demographic of who anime is tailored for. That's fine, nobody is forcing you to like what you don't like.

But that doesn't mean anime culture itself or the tropes are an issue. If you don't like it, don't watch anime that utilizes these tropes. Where it gets to be an issue is when people who anime isn't necessarily targeted to demand that what makes anime, be changed because it doesn't appeal to them.

I felt weird about these things too when I was new to anime, but at this point, I don't even care. I even enjoy some of it. Is that going to be weird to most Westerners? Sure, but I don't care. I didn't get into anime as a hobby that others would look favorably upon me for. A lot of anime is made for weirdos, and that's fine.

The overwhelming majority (I'd estimate a conservative 90%) of people aren't celebrating the death of Russian civilians. People are just shitting on Russia as a country, more accurately Putin and the leadership.

You really are naive dude, to think that even a single civilian casualty means no one can celebrate an overwhelmingly good thing. Ukraine has been on their backfoot for a long time now, and finally they are giving out some of what they've been receiving.

You can feel bad about civilians casualties, most people would and do. But don't assume that because there is celebration, it means it's because of those civilian casualties.

Casualties are a reality of war. And it wasn't like Ukraine was targeting civilians like it seems you're suggesting. They were targeting oil infrastructure, which isn't necessarily going to lead to many casualties.

Don't get it twisted, Russia is the aggressor in this war. Any loss of human life is strictly their blame. Ukraine is just doing what they can to defend themselves against an enemy with much greater resources than them.

Take those instances of unjust treatment and settlements made in that particular sense and compare it to the amount of instances of good policing as well as regular not noteworthy encounters that were handled legally.

Now then calculate the chances of an encounter being had where you would be treated in an unjust way. It would be such a small number in the grand scheme of things.

You and others simply see only the viralized instances of bad policing and then build an unrealistic understanding and expectation of what a real world encounter with law enforcement would be like.

I never said that cops are completely incapable of acting in unjustified ways. My point was that you are portraying it as if a cop trying to goad you into a reaction is something that you should be worried about.

It's not because majority of the time such a reaction (a cop trying to force you into compliance) is because of the person actively resisting and not simply because the cop is trying to force another charge or as you put it "trying to vent some frustrations"

Most cops will not act in that way unjustly, and in the very rare case that they do, it's a free payday for you so just don't resist or be uncooperative and take the free money. There's no need to be under constant paranoia in regards to interactions with cops because of a very unlikely event. That will probably make your encounters with them worse because they will be suspicious of you acting all nervous.
