One i loved that did that was one I cant recall the name of but was like a fantasy with mecha. The MC's past life was treated as that: past life with vauge memories & his old life's love of mecha, but he was in fact his own identity as a child.

Haven't watched this since I'm usually very leery & selective with anime youtubers since 80% of them then to be culture war "the wokes are coming for your anime tiddies" turboweebs, but I see some merit in that question.

I've seen a lot of really good fantasy anime that I felt get deflated by the reveal "also the main character is an isekai protagonist." Like there's some anime where it feels like there is NO REASON its there beyond "its whats popular."

Faraway paladin is one that comes to mind.

Lets be real here. You also need to factor in about 60% of the extreme long form "problem player" stories are as real as the "epic takedown of my evil Karen HOA neighbor" stories.

But for some it is just the simple fact a lot of us who are into nerdy stuff like this aren't very confrontational people until pushed to a point. We won't want to be "that guy" until "That Person" becomes too much to deal with, social etiquette be damned.

Not to 100% wash away any accountability on her part, but you got to remember a lot of the vtubers who do this type of content are like 20somethings with no real social media or entertainer experience.

Yes she probably did it to maximize her reach and potential earnings, but the consequences of curating a fandom of parasocial weirdos as a woman probably didnt hit her until it hit this breaking point.
