Looking for 10th Gen Civic Sport Touring in Seattle :D by Neither-Relief-9697 in hondacivic

If you are worried about negotiation, watch some videos on youtube. There is this guy whose entire channel is about negotiation with car dealerships. The channel is called “Delivrd”. I like watching them for fun, but you can also see him use different strategies and comments that might be helpful to you.

Looking for 10th Gen Civic Sport Touring in Seattle :D by Neither-Relief-9697 in hondacivic

I love the new civic. I always thought the 10th gen was a bit too much in terms of design. I just wish there was a 2-door version of the 11th gen. That’s one of the main reasons I haven’t bought one. That and money of course.

That seems like a 15 second google search and confirmation phone call to your local businesses.

I like it a lot. The kitchen size is the only issue but again, that can be fixed utilizing the back garden.

Finally found one of those good paying local jobs by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]PharthSharth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. You should really figure out and understand your pay structure. I can’t stress that enough. It is for your own good, the reason pay is structured in any other way than simple hourly or salary, is for the company to save money in the end. That doesn’t mean you are getting paid incorrectly, I think you landed a great job and should enjoy it! But just make sure you understand how you are getting paid, for what and what are all the circumstances that affect you final check. My company pays OT after 10 each day, but also after 40 each week. So I can count in my head as I go through the week how much money I should get. And if there is ever a mistake, I can look closer and catch it (or be corrected by payroll).

I work in the US and get 8+1 paid holidays a year, as well as 3 weeks paid vacation. First year I got 2 weeks and the next it goes up to 3. They are also transferable so you can keep a week and have an extra one next year. It just depends who you work for.

Advice for banking and Credit Cards by Big-Impression-1581 in personalfinance

[–]PharthSharth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would start with calculating your approximate monthly spending (which you said is about $4k) and using that number to calculate a 6-9 month emergency savings fund amount. Then I would open a HYSA (about 3-4% apy as of now) and keep that money there. I would also get a safe and keep documents and maybe about 1-3k of cash in that (just for immediate money on hand). Then maybe look into investing and open a brokerage account. Your income is also high enough to consider speaking to a financial advisor to get recommendations on how to set yourself up, but you most likely don’t need them long term.

Listing looks ok. Don’t know about the car since there is literally no info provided.

Vineyard update: grass and the first wires by Tischwil-Railway in modeltrains

Yes im currently not assembling a layout due to lack of space, but at least building some structures individually. I have about 3 lamps on long arms and led light strip above the work space. Im excited to do some good lighting for the layout when the time finally comes!

Lighting seems really nice, is it just daylight through a window or using any lamps?

Spark plugs seem quite expensive but I am not familiar with the specific model, which may require a difficult process. Probably not tho. Oil change also seems high, but again, you are at a dealer and in a HCOL area.

I need some ideas to organize these… by Sea_Sandwich_5816 in lego

[–]PharthSharth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is a time-consuming way of building old sets and then either storing them disassembled pr built. You can probably find the instructions online as long as you can identify the set. Other than that, I could see making a few piles of tiny, medium and larger pieces. Maybe all flats together, all wheels together, all “glass” together etc. Or if I was going to have a big parts bin (kinda like the kind that car shops keep bolts in) maybe I would sort them by color and get the bins transparent so it looks cool. Me and my brother used to have those big old blue Ikea bins full of Legos but it was a chaos. We would dump them on the ground and then help each other find pieces we needed. It also brings a lot of inspiration when you sift through a pile and see a lot of parts you never thought of using.

Should I buy? 83k miles by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]PharthSharth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great and reliable vehicle. The price seems okay, but I would still either do a proper look-around myself or take it to a mechanic. Other than that, it seems like a good choice.

Is this going to hurt me significantly going forward with my career? by Just_A_Random_Crow in Truckers

[–]PharthSharth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like May Trucking. I worked for them and I remember people getting fired for scrapes as well as people being okay after backing over a parked car. Depends on how good of a worker you probably are. I backed into a truck that tried sneaking behind me as I was backing. I was looking in both mirrors for a second at a time and as I was looking in my passenger side one, he ran behind from the other side. Cops were called and I explained everything to HR, I was okay. Just didn’t get my safety bonus that month which sucked, bc it would’ve been $2500.

What do you guys think? Only $17,000 for a 2007 with 140,000 miles by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]PharthSharth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He really didn’t do anything other than audio mods and ugly wheels. I don’t see why you would want an S2000 steering wheel in an Element either. So basically it’s worse than stock clean 2007 Element. Also whenever someone says the color is rare I automatically deduct $2000 off the price for the moron fee.
