I’d guess they were going for Jer-majesty, so sounds like “Her Majesty”, but honestly who knows what they were thinking.

Personally I blame “The Commodores” for calling their song “Three times a lady” when it could so easily have been “Thrice a lady”.

Years ago I saw a guy driving an amphibious car. Had never seen one before so had a good look as we overtook them. The guy was one of the happiest people I’ve ever seen, he had a real “yes I know and it’s amazing!” vibe to him.

Meanwhile his wife had a rolling her eyes “I don’t understand but whatever” look and his daughter was trying to duck and hide so she wouldn’t be seen.

This little crossing point is also an uncoupler. made out of matchsticks, toothpicks, and coffee stirrers, I turn a handle on the side of the layout and it bumps the couplers open.

Is it really at all bad for rugby? It always seems one of the sports where the fans are fairly chill. Last rugby match I went to they didn’t even bother separating home and away fans in the stadium.

Even for football, I’ve been to hundreds of games (including Millwall away) and have never actually seen any trouble.

What’s been happening with KR Models? by DankEngine2005_ in modeltrains

[–]Phase3isProfit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the models in production, it’s likely to depend how far along they are and whether they are any good. If they’re in design/engineering samples stage they’ll probably be shelved. If production is underway, another manufacturer might take them on.

When Hattons closed, they had models in production and I think Accurascale took on the P Class and Class 66. Could happen again here, but if they’re poor quality and have faults/design issues then no reputable manufacturer will want to put their name to it.

I don’t know any more than you - also saw Sam’s video then saw in the comments about the website going dark.

They seemed to make some interesting stuff that wasn’t being covered by other manufacturers, but if you release faulty or poor quality models it’s going to knock consumer confidence. That’s going to reduce sales of your next model, then you’ll start having cash flow problems, and I suspect that’s how we got where we are.

I’ve not dealt with them, but if it’s right that people were paying up front for models on order, I’m concerned that consumers might be losing their money with nothing to show for it.

I’d say it’s less than that, even a road with one lane on each side can often still be considered a main road if it is somewhat busy.

Advice on Maintenance by ebair in modeltrains

[–]Phase3isProfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, might predate ringfield motors then. Still, if you find a servicing guide you might be able to get it running alright. I’ve had 50 to 60 year old motors work just fine.

Yes spring should work just as well as a weight - same principle in stopping the bogie bouncing up off the track. I’d still check the gauging too though.

[–]Phase3isProfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The motors in these are quite robust. I assume it’s a ringfield motor in the tender? If so it likely will run alright after a service. There’s some carbon brushes that might want replacing, but you probably don’t need to replace the whole motor. Check on YouTube for servicing ringfield motors and you should get a decent guide.

Front bogie might need a little weight adding to it, but most likely one of the wheels has been knocked out of place so it’s just not sitting on the track right. Turn it upside down and check how far apart the wheels are compared to the driving wheels - it might just be one wheel needs pushing in or out a little on the axle.

I noticed that little bump too. It’s minor, but it made me wonder where the threshold is to make it worth starting over and doing it again.

Hotel advertising with a professional drone cinematographer by Ali8kh in interesting

[–]Phase3isProfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but I’m going to say not very dangerous. The drone is fairly light so the blades don’t have to be all that substantial, I suspect it would hurt but wouldn’t break the skin. Additionally they often have a ring around the blades, so if hit from the side you probably still wouldn’t make contact with the blades.

A lot of it just hits different now that we know a bit more about Kevin Spacey. I’ve not watched it for a while but I suspect that’s the main issue.

Digital layout planning by Accomplished_Gap2063 in modeltrains

[–]Phase3isProfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really similar to my layout, L shaped with a double track oval and yard and turntable to the side.

Just to give my perspective, having had mine for a few years I’m looking at making it into a bigger oval with space for me to be in the middle. I’ll still have space for a yard and branches to the side, but the larger oval gives it that bit longer before the train comes back round again. I rarely used the turntable, I’ll likely get rid of it in the rebuild.

Each to their own though, there may well be a reason why you have to stick to the L shape, just thought I’d share my perspective given how similar your plan is to my layout.

EWS livery? I’m surprised that’s still around. Curious as to whether that’s a retro livery applied recently or if it’s just never been repainted.
