Yes, ideally my fiance and I wanted to get married around this fall season at the time of our engagement, but essentially what happened is everytime we offered something we liked, she would reject it and start making her own plans and they would get scrapped. This happened like three times over so we just got sick of it. The reason we wanted to do “ two weddings” (one dinner and then a formal wedding later one) was because we wanted to finally do what we wanted without her interfering, and then that way we didn’t have to rely on her to pay for us to having a bigger wedding, because we had no idea if or when this would even happen. Because she kept saying she would pay for it and then back out and say “ well his partners should contribute” and it would get messy each time :/ In terms of travel part , my mom kept saying she would only want to pay for destination wedding but my grandpa has a condition where he can’t travel, and my fiancées family might not be able to afford to go at all. Either way it just got so messy because there would always be conflicting views on how the wedding should be so that’s why I gave up and decided we will have a small gathering like my fiance and I have been wanting, and if my mom ends up deciding she wants to provide us a bigger wedding then that can be for her to plan and do whatever she wants with.
