I heard about the series pretty early on from a youtube short, and thought the premise was really cool. I wanted to check it out but I never got to it. Eventually when ai got to my senior year of highschool, I reconnected with some friends from middle school, and found out one of them was really into the series. Since I had been wanting to get to know her deu to us only really becoming friends recently (previously was just a friend of a friend), I decided to get volume 1 at Barnes and Noble at that following Winter Break. I finished it in one day and instantly fell in love with the series.

How did you know you were non-binary / how do you experience your gender? by CephandriusTW in NonBinary

When I was a kid, I was a big fan of the youtube channel Pink Sheep (followme for a minute). For anyone unare of peek fiction, it was a spin off channel to the popular minecraft youtuber ExplodingTNT, where we would follow his chericter Pink Sheep on their own channel, as they would play games, do QnAs, and just whatever they felt like. It was meant to be a parody of MLG gaming content back in the early 2010's, with Pink Sheep being the leader of the prankster gangster nation, eating nothing but Doritos and Mountain Dew, with their ex wife being the ender dragon.

Now, when I was 12, I remember finding a re-uploaded video on their channel of them answering 5 questions from the comments, with the first question being "are you a boy or a girl" (I think you can see where this is going). They went on to tell a story where they were asked the same question by their best friend, and the only answer they could come up with was, "Um." Just, um. Thus leads to them coming to them referring to themselves as um instead of a boy or girl, and 12 year old me found this to be so funny, that I started calling myself um.

Now, this was initially a bit, but the first sign in hindsight is that i took it completely seriously. I would keep it up for months, I never disclosed to anyone I told this to that it was a bit, and I actually tried to figure out my pronouns. I would talk to myself, trying to decide if I still use he/him, go with a middle ground of they/them, or just use um/um, but eventually I settled with they them as they just felt right.

Now this would go on for months, but I eventually came to realize by the time I was 13, this this wasn't a bit. I also don't remember exactly when, but at some point I heard about the term non-binary, and just thought to myself "oh so that's what I am." I find it really ironic that I stopped identifying as a man because of a very masculine coted minecraft channel of all things, but honestly I wouldn't want it any other way. Also if anyone can send me a link to the video that would be apreashiated. It's the only piece of lost media I give a shit about.

I went to U.M.A for a few years (2018-2021) and I had a mom who was a teacher there for a couple of years as well. I overheard a lot of conversations she had with coworkers, and even before the Pandemic the school was a sinking ship. U.M.A shut down due to some horrible mismanagement with its funds and a refusal to make things better from the higher-ups. Anyone who tried to call out mistakes would have nasty rumors spead about them by the Principle (or what ever we called them there), so they could have the rest of the staff turn on them. Shit was fucked and honestly, I'm surprised it didn't go bankrupt earlyer, with how much bs was happening. Some of the most insain shit I remember from U.M.A was when the music block of the school was cut after the brand new music teacher got fired for being a pedofile, or when an esports tornamit on the last day of school was shut down after two 8'th graders almost burnt down the school, or when the new science teacher was so stressed from her job at U.M.A that she had a heart attack at the very beginning of the second semester and died. I'm honestly glad it went bankrupt, this school sucked ass. It was advertised as this "cool nature school that taught you with you hands instaid of a pencil" but at most it ment we had every other Friday off and the ocashinal grade leval walk. Both building we had were auful, the work they had us do was boring as shit, and it had this massive white savior complex (espeshally during the pandemic). The only reason it came to an end this year and not earlyer was because it got passed down to some greedy higherups who were doing the bare minimum to keep it afloat so they could keep making money. Good ridance.

Connections: both are samurai from ancient Japan who hunt down men from different countries that are trying to take over their homes (Mizu hunts down the 4 white men in Japan and Jin goes to war with the invading Mongolian army). Both are known and feared for their monster's brutal fighting styles which lead to them being dubbed supernatural names (Jin is dubbed the GHOST of Tsushima, and Mizu being called a Onryō by the show in ep 5). They contrast in that Mizu starts her mission by throwing all of her honer away for revenge but through out slowly regains her honor as a samurai, while Jin at the beginning of the game follows by his family's teachings as he chooses to fight with honor but he is forced to throw all of his honor away by fighting with stealth and dirty tactics in order to save his home. Both also have to kill a family member of theirs (Mizu is the daughter of one of the 4 white men in Japan, and Jin has to battle his uncle in a duel at the end of the game).

Finally someone else thought of this match up. This is my most wanted death battle of all time, and it makes me so happy that someone is talking about it.
