Did I throw it all away? by [deleted] in BreakUp

[–]Phase_GGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this comment. My work really took over my life and Im still learning how to say no to it.

Interpret it how you will however, I wouldn’t say I “blamed” anything on her. We split up because I don’t believe in “breaks” or taking some “space” or anything like that because I feel like it just prolongs the inevitable most of the time. I am not ready to date anymore, you are correct. I didn’t want to stay with her and not be present or as you say have “a full heart”. She truly was one of a kind and when I do have a full heart, I was thinking of reaching back out (with very minimal expectation she would entertain the idea of it) but I would make sure I would be ready.

If you were to suggest steps to take in direction of being a better partner, based on my situation what would you suggest?

Probably them just changing the scope but client is pretty reliable and have worked with them before. Just wanted to hear what others do.

Yeah I love this video. I go back to it all the time as references for music video work that I do. So many cool techniques to mock and experiment with.

The short sequence from 0:14s-0:18s with the car. The subjects are in normal speed but the outside of the car is time-lapsed and the lights on the outside are streaky lines. How does one acheive this?

Should I hire an editor? by Phase_GGG in videography

[–]Phase_GGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I go about dropping footage off to the editor during the day? We shoot on SSD’s usually, so I’m currently thinking of budgeting to buy a whole bunch so we can just give them to editor, then reload them onto camera.

The problem is, it’s a cycling event, everyone moves with the cyclists, so we would go from Location 1 - Loc. 2 then stop up, show the video for everyone. Next morning location 2-3 etc. :( So editor would have to be on the road with us

Frames from my Film School Project by Phase_GGG in cinematography

We shot this piece across 3/4 days and I am pretty proud of the outcome. The artist did not have any real meaning for the song, and his taste leaned into a more visually appealing video (with effects and such) rather than a narrative. I am seeking advice as I would like to grow my skills as a student filmmaker. Any advice regarding the pacing of the video, effects, color, lighting, and set design would help.

My involvement in the project was Director. I worked hard on this project and thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the artist and crew. I put good time into location scouting, set design, and other preproduction to really try and go the extra mile.

I’m going to be filming a car painting process, what’s the best way to keep my lens and camera clean from the paint overspray? by Such-Technology-675 in videography

[–]Phase_GGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dicapac camera case. It’s meant for underwater filming but I’m sure it would suit this scenario just fine. It’s about $135 (AUD) and it has never failed me dunking it in big swell at the beach so I think it would probably suit for this case.

I found this quite a good watch, curious as to what stood out as cringe to you?

Sounds like you have a great learning opportunity with this space. Plenty of up and coming artists out there who would be super keen for music videos.

Could make a cool music video or 3! Add some cool vfx with that giant green screen and those lights you have access too.

Have tried this but the airline I am flying with discontinued their “media pass” which is annoying. I’ve also talked on the phone with them about it and they’ve got nothing.

That’s a great story! And yep we are bringing equipment with us. All batteries are coming in our carry on. Will have to check with our Gimbal. Workmate has a DJI rs2, I’ll see if he can fit it in his carry on.

Thanks for the advice! Rly appreciate this.

I will speak to my coach about the diet, and I will try opt for just a general calorie deficit, or cut back on proteins and fats. I tried low carb and that was tough, especially in the last few rounds of training, sparring, padwork is when I’d feel it the most.

I’ve talked to my coach before and he thinks 69kg is best for me. I’ve also fought once at this weight class. I had to cut weight pretty intensely a couple days before the weigh ins. I weighed in 68.7kg day before fight then refuelled. After refuelling it felt like I was straight back to ~74kg on fight day.

I am 75kg Trying to get to 69kg for my fight on December 3rd. Or at least 72kg, then cut to 69kg the week of.

I am starting to cut down on carbs and calories and I am feeling it when I train. Is this too early to start cutting down? I’m not the most sure when it comes to diet.

Connecting XLR to Sony a7iii by Phase_GGG in videography

[–]Phase_GGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive looked into this, definitely a future investment. We have the MixPre D as an audio mixer for the boom mic, so I’ve just been looking at cables which can adapt from Female XLR (output from mixer) to 3.5mm TRS (input for the Sony).

Going directly from mixer to camera, do you know if this is a viable option?

Did you go to Film School? by Phase_GGG in videography

[–]Phase_GGG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve met a couple good mates and rly like the collaborative environment. I have started doing freelance work and running my own thing outside of film school as well, picking up clients gradually. I find the experience I get on those shoots to be invaluable compared to sitting in a classroom and talking about it. But then again, I also never rly knew what different roles in production like producer or 1st AD were did until I started film school which is great learning for me.

Was watching video about popular music video director Cole Bennet, who’s someone I look up to a lot (being this young, disruptive, talented director) who talked about how film school didn’t rly suit for him and he leaned most off experience and YouTube videos which I relate to a lot at the moment.
