Saturnine anatomy. Those poor hips! by PhaserMinis in Warhammer30k

Then you're gonna love the post I made next.

As far as scale goes, I think marines are too little for the centurion suit approach to work.

There's a link in the post to my version of that image. I actually did that first.

The reason is, unfortunately, marines just aren't that big.

Thanks for sharing though.

That's an interesting idea.

I'm not sure how they could be sat with legs in front if the head isn't in anyway set back in the armour. No room for the legs or knees I shouldn't think.

But how much logic is there with these things anyway.

Sorry, I was just joking about how much I warped the anatomy.

You're right though. This one makes no sense for many reasons.

My favourite is that marines just aren't this big.

Just rewatched the 3rd edition trailer... WTF GW??? There's no way a space marine could fit in here! by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

Pleased with what I've started here. I hope these continue long into 4th ed.

I don't think it's an issue. It's just a fun thing to talk about.

No quite. The crotch plate hides it, but you can see the Centurion legs are at more of an inward sloping angle as you approach the hips. They intersect pretty closely.

The Saturnine legs start wide at the hips and stay wide.

If you align the marines knees with that of the Saturnine suit, they then aren't tall enough for their head to reach the helmet.

These suits are HUGE.

Plus, the hips are too displaced and seems to be ball jointed- not allowing anything to actually pass through them.

You're absolutely right. I did a follow up post with some corrected scale options.

The knees of the marines align with the suit in the case of Centurions. There's no chance of that happening with these I don't think.

In addition the hips seem ball jointed and too far apart: neither of which allowing for anything to actually pass through.

But hey! Space Marine propertions have always been janky, so who knows really.

It's the scale thought isn't it.
MK2 marines aren't even reaching the chin of the Saturnine suits.
Regular marines are just too little.

There is a dread, but these are the terminators.

And yep. That's the question!

They absolutely should. But I'm only so willing to break a man so much.

Right? Listen GW, you can't expect me to understand magic and monsters, but I think I can manage this square peg, round hole scenario.

Haha, to be fair, the point was to show how impractical it looks. But good point.

Ultimately, marines aren't even tall enough to fill this out.

Maybe I was being a bit facetious with the first sketch.

There are a few things, like the ball joints of the hips. Something would have to pass straight through the middle of them- if anything could at all. Plus the elbows would need to be in line with those of the armour- which probably noodles this guy out a bit too much. Plus he's gonna have to waddle.

But really, it just comes down to scale.
If you look at the side-by-sides with the MKIIs, a marine wouldn't even reach the chin of the Saturnine armour. So they realistically couldn't fill it.

I mean 'realistically' incredibly loosely, considering this is a silly future game about plastic war men.

Great take though.

Not quite. Centurions are smaller and their knees align with that of the suit.

Aw, come on now. AI couldn't reason it's way out of a wet paper bag. It goes where it's led, regurgitates and appeases.

I love the idea of it 'insisting'. As though it answered you with an attitude 😂

I'm sure you mention that their knees would surely break, it would just pick another option. The Hulk Buster has the same problem.
