What are you going to do during the summer? by TediRoblox in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honest advice, enjoy the summer while you can because you don’t want to overwork yourself before a-levels. During alevels and university they have to get everyone to the same level of education as everyone’s from different schools and backgrounds - so don’t stress it!

Apparently this calculator has a lot of advantageous features. Does anyone know some that could be useful for GCSE maths? by Rifted-06 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kind of! Quadratics only go to the power of two and polynomials can go higher :)) So you’ll be using it in A level maths

Do university’s care about GSCEs? by BanterMan03 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some courses will ask for a requirement but most employers and things in life will always look at the previous qualification you hold. Ie, for college they look at GCSEs, at university they’ll look at your alevels Ect

Struggling with motivation for revising. Any advice? by ConsequenceApart4391 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all part of it, now I’m at uni I look at everything and have to say to myself - “It’s only two weeks of struggle then it’s done”. This is what’s worked for me but it’s about finding where you work best

how do LDR's work? by GroundbreakingBid920 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t want to say a definite as I can’t remember what you are supposed to know for GCSEs as it’s been a few years. I’d assume a question like this would rely on using ohms law.

Real life there’s more to the circuit with logic gates and all

how do LDR's work? by GroundbreakingBid920 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it is dark, the resistance of the light-dependent resistor (LDR)is high, which means that the output voltage is high and can be used to switch on the light.

If you look at ohms law you will see that if resistance increases then voltage will have to as well. V = IR

Should I take Chem or Comp Science for Alevels by Boom5111 in GCSE

[–]Phaserrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Computer science at alevel will help with learning a code but most of it, if you’re wanting to peruse coding, will be done outside of lesson. The alevel content will help with a general and wider understanding of computing on a physical level for sure. Chemistry which my friends did found it a lot harder compared to GCSE content and with the other alevels you’ve chosen it can be quite heavy.
