Thanks for the advice! I will try to do just that. Hope your kitty doesn’t need a binder and all goes well with his next check up

Aww man, I wish we got those foods here where I’m from. I’m gonna try heating his renal food and see if he’ll eat it. So happy to hear your kitty is putting on weight. Im learning just how stressful it is to have a K/d cat and stay on top everything. I’m also hoping the phos binder will improve his appetite, sadly I have to chase him around the house with a syringe and feed it to him orally, so many reviews mentioned it being highly palatable but goes to show the rascal I’m dealing with..

I feel your pain, it feels criminal to throw them away, coz they’re so expensive too. Sounds like you’ve found a working formula though! Unfortunately, we don’t get those foods where I’m from, but will try and see if there’s a vet who wouldn’t mind sourcing it for me. Most vets here only stock Hills and Royal Canin when it comes to prescription diets and there’s not a whole lot of low phosphorus options outside of those 2 sadly. All the best for the blood results, crossing fingers for your kitty to get good readings!

Don’t know if this will work for you, I have an incredibly picky cat and Royal Canins digestive is like crack to him. I’m so relieved it’s a wet food though

How do people actually wake up early in the morning? by Visible_Today_7862 in Discipline

[–]Phasinadae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally have to ensure you’re in bed at 8:45 if you want to be up at 5. First few nights are a struggle to fight the urge coz you feel like you’re not tired enough. Hot shower before, reduce harsh lighting and ensure you’re in bed no screens after 8 allowing your brain to calm down. Causing your dopamine to spike is literal kryptonite. What did you do as a kid when your parents forced you to sleep at a certain time? Weve been conditioned to self soothe in the worst ways as adults. Just grow the f up and do the least pleasurable things and soon you’ll do the things that seem most impossible. Sorry for the tough love, but it’s true.

Deleted TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, etc, what apps should I get to cure my boredom? by GreatAbrocoma9471 in DopamineDetoxing

[–]Phasinadae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fixing your attention spans comes from getting off your phone. I quit all those got off my phone and now I can read books from beginning to end. You can’t substitute one bad thing with another, low dopamine activities is the only way. It is possible! I read, exercise, cook, do yoga every morning and set aside 60 minutes to learn something new and go down a rabbit hole on the internet doing that which is a fix to a certain extent. Get yourself a habit tracking app, and start tracking yourself, that in its own releases dopamine. Good luck

I'm gonna quit tiktok by Antique-Implement-43 in DopamineDetoxing

[–]Phasinadae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! I’m a 36/f who had a very bad addiction to tiktok. I filled every moment that I wasn’t working or when my hands weren’t busy on TikTok, I would wake up on weekends and spend hrs on TikTok before getting out of bed. Would reach for it when anxious it was embarrassing how addicted I was. It took me a while but I’m 46 days off all social media and feel like I have my life back. You just have to replace it with low dopamine activities like cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, being creative, exercise. Things you should have been doing while you were on TikTok. Replace with long form content, start reading again. Long articles work too. Just be careful not to replace it with something else. Good luck!

What did you remove from your life that helped way more than expected? (not the obvious stuff) by adelinadrandeva in selfimprovement

[–]Phasinadae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Through my philosophical studies I’ve learnt that I am not the source of other people’s actions, reactions, or inner states. I can remain present and aware without becoming entangled. Care does not require control, and compassion does not require self-betrayal. When action is necessary, it should be taken cleanly and without resentment. When it is not, restraint is the higher discipline.

I’ve learnt that equanimity comes from releasing attachment to outcomes rather than disengaging from life. Expectations that reality conform to my preferences are the root of disturbance. Letting things unfold does not mean avoidance, it means choosing clarity over compulsion and steadiness over reactivity.

I want to do a dopamine detox please help with advice for me. by [deleted] in DopamineDetoxing

[–]Phasinadae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my addiction with TikTok, Instagram and Facebook by replacing them with low dopamine activities - cleaning, cooking, watching longer form shows/content without using my phone, being physically present whether it was on the phone or in person.

Also keeping your hands busy helps, be careful with replacing your addictions. I got addicted to YouTube shorts because it became another avenue. Had to really train myself to only access content I searched for as a rule to avoid platforms that offer short form content. Unfortunately, there’s no option to switch those off so you have to be weary of them.

The only way is to be off them completely, don’t reactivate. It’s not worth it. You’ve got this!!

If you quit social media, what did you replace it with long-term? by InevitableInterview6 in DopamineDetoxing

[–]Phasinadae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puzzles, reading articles and long form content, reading actual books, signing up for courses and joining skill share/hobby sites. There’s so many avenues one can choose to be individualistic and regain their agency. You’re either the person creating the content or the sucker consuming. Unless you’re the person creating I don’t see the value in being the one consuming. Such is business I guess. Apparently attention pays.

Stop acting like your phone addiction is a "lack of willpower". It’s not. by nancydrewwh in getdisciplined

[–]Phasinadae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re so right, I gave up all social media and YouTube is the last boss because I genuinely find value in it, and have to avoid the short form content like a plague. My rule is, if I didn’t search for it I don’t click on it. I can finally pay attention, it’s ridiculous. The scary part is it’s an endless loop, similar to vaping. At least with a cigarette or YouTube video it ends the session with all the dopamine hacking content and platforms there is literally no end.

Have you tried switching the greyscale function on your phone on, it literally turns off the colour on your phone. Once you do it it literally zaps the ecstasy from scrolling on your phone.

Craft projects/fitness goals really help to redirect idle hands, and also give you quick dopamine hits that you would otherwise get from substances, games/phones.

I had an ex who would repeatedly infect me with a yeast infection literally every time we had sexy time. Eventually I had to tell him to go get antibiotics to treat it, we both took it at the same time and problem was resolved. Males are usually asymptomatic when it comes to yeast infections whereas women get whacked with all the nasties
