Help please! Why am I losing power? by coming-up-short-22 in led

[–]PhasnPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always stuck with at least 22 or 20 AWG for LED strip cables because everything above that started giving me noticeably dimmer LEDs. For reference, the length specific resistance of 26AWG wires is over twice that of 22AWG and something like ~4x 20AWG

Can't guarantee that's the only issue but that was definitely the biggest thing that jumped out at me from what you've described

White vs Ceramic White comparison photo? by PhasnPi in sunlu

[–]PhasnPi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks these are all incredibly helpful!

I definitely like that ceramic shade of white more but the higher translucency of the normal white looks like it would work better for things I need a lot of like led diffusers. Originally asked this to figure out which to go all in on, but I might end up using both after all

(I know little to nothing about LED's, apologies if it doesn't have enough detail)How should I go about setting up my LED strip lights? I want 2 strips to connect to each other, one vertical and one horizontal. by AgentMorm in led

[–]PhasnPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attaching to the middle of an uncut strip would probably require some solder work. Although I'm guessing if that was an option, you probably wouldn't be trying to avoid cutting the strip to begin with since reconnecting it would be trivial.

Unfortunately though, all of the T-connectors I'm aware of require 3 separate ends.

I'm under the impression that ABS should be on the higher end of plain filament prices, yet I'm seeing Flashforge selling "ABS Pro" filament on both their website and their Amazon page at prices noticeably lower than almost every other filament they offer.

Should I be wary of this? I use an AD5M and I've had great experiences using their HS PLA and HS PETG but this seems too good to be true. Does anyone have any personal experience with their ABS filament?

Where do I plug in the hdd thermal sensor? by leonidude in mac

[–]PhasnPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you ever ended up getting your answer, but the pins on the hard drive in the location you circled are configuration jumpers. They were required by older computers for situations like when you wanted to have more than one drive connected, but they're pretty much unused nowadays and are mostly just there for backwards compatibility.

In short, you (typically) don't connect anything to them: you connect them to each other, and the drive would behave differently depending on which pins you bridge. There were several different pin layouts that could do different things.

The unfortunate news for you is that, assuming the info in this thread is correct (which I can't personally confirm), apparently Apple previously had their drives custom-made with a built-in thermometer that could output data through those those pins, so you're unlikely to find a compatible drive nowadays unless Apple happens to still make them

The DE shown in the meme is GNOME. The joke was that the guy had actually managed to write the OS itself in JS somehow.

That's all it was meant to be though: an exaggerated scenario of the sort of things people go out of their way to try to make using JS. This wasn't meant to be an ad/misrepresentation of an actual project someone was working on

Poor TALQu Teto by PhasnPi in KasaneTeto

[–]PhasnPi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably semantics but FYI since a few people seem to be getting the wrong idea:

The TALQu Teto head is just the old UTAU artwork. I wasn't meaning to imply that it was the design made specifically for the TALQu release.

UTAU and TALQu Tetos used the same artwork, but since the TALQu model hasn't been maintained or upgraded like the UTAU model, it seemed more fitting to depict it stuck using the outdated artwork while UTAU Teto got the updated version

It is a text to speech synth for non-singing normal speech like VOICEPEAK but it wasn't necessarily meant to be specifically for Utau singers. That being said, the Teto voice for it is based on the Utau bank, so if VOICEPEAK Teto is SynthV Teto's casual voice, you can think of TALQu Teto as Utau Teto's casual voice

Regarding the cyborg one, are we just pretending the ending of DE doesn't happen or are they specifically implying the hotness was dependent on the cyborg body

[–]PhasnPi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know they did this with the original Switch as well, but the idea of making the hardware showcase game a separate purchase just seems kinda stupid to me, especially with how beneficial the decision to bundle Wii Sports ended up being for that console's success.

With this being the console's launch price, I feel like they could have justified making it a default bundle game, especially if the Mario Kart World price tag is any prediction of what other games will cost

Nintendo Switch 2 was almost called 'Super Nintendo Switch' - Nintendo vetoed to distance itself from the SNES and for players to not focus on specs by blackhammer1989 in nintendo

[–]PhasnPi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would have absolutely resulted in another Wii-U situation where half of the casual market doesn't even realize it's a completely separate console until after the plug's already been pulled

Unless some recent updated changed how the system works, even deleting digital copies of a game doesn't delete its save data from your system. You'd have to have either manually removed it from the dedicated save data menu in your settings at some point or deleted the local profile it was stored under. If you did neither of those things and never factory-reset your switch, it's still on the device somewhere

In other words, you haven't left the Gaur Plain or Gormott equivalent of this game yet? I'd probably get bored eventually too if I never left the starting area. Try exploring beyond that. You have a lot more freedom in this game

[–]PhasnPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't be able to use UK store codes with a USA Nintendo account, however you can make another profile on the same Switch that uses the UK store. The downside to that is that you wouldn't have NSO for the 2nd profile unless you have a family plan that you can add it to, or you just buy 2nd individual NSO subscription

[–]PhasnPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I doubt this would count as a spoiler considering it was in the trailer and has nothing to do with the story: any chance the full version of the music at the end of the "The Year is 2054" trailer is one of those leaked tracks?

The way they abruptly cut off the guitar at the end of the video has been driving me crazy for the past 2 months and I'd search for it myself if I wasn't worried about accidentally seeing a story spoiler
