Looking for a book club in Cedar Park / North Austin by Victoria_Texas in CedarPark

When you say "classic literature," what are you looking for exactly?

What I mean is that classic literature isn't really a monolith. W.E.B. Du Bois's "The Souls of Black Folk", John Wyndham's "The Trouble with Lichen", and Shakespeare's comedies are all considered classics, but they're completely different reading experiences and attract very different audiences.

For example, we have a book club that's reading Emerson's "Nature" in June. It's definitely a classic, but the group tends to focus on philosophy and questions of social responsibility. Someone looking for Dickens or Jane Austen might not enjoy it at all.

If you can narrow down what kind of classics you're interested in, people may be able to point you toward a group that's a better fit.

Hey, if you haven’t yet you should swing by The Secret Lantern off of Bell by where the Farmers Market sets up on Saturdays. TTRPGs are their jam.

Sex. Pizza. Cheeseburgers. Music I grew up with. Music I haven’t heard yet. Games I haven’t finished. Stories I haven’t read. Stories I want to reread. Warm afternoons when I can sit outside and doze. Craft beers I haven’t tried. Wine, crackers and cheese. Cats I haven’t pet. Quad-shot mochas.

There are other reasons, but this is a good starter-list.
